American Airlines Cancels Routes, British Airways Changes Washington Service & United Flys Its 777...

A round-up of some of the airline news I've noticed over the past few days including American Airlines cancelling three of its routes out of Philadelphia, British Airways changing the aircraft it uses on its London - Washington DC route and United Airlines scheduling a brief flurry of 777 service between San Francisco and Las Vegas in January 2017.

Etihad Reduces Flights To The West Coast

Following last week's announcement that Etihad will be increasing service to Dallas/Ft Worth the airline has now announced that it will be decreasing service to San Francisco from early next year. Etihad will reduce it's daily service between Abu Dhabi and San Francisco to just 3 flights per week and this may go some way to expelling where the airline is getting the aircraft to operate the extra flights to Dallas/Ft Worth.

Be Patient When Booking Business Class Fares For Next Year

I'm not normally one to make too many predictions when it comes to the direction in which airline fares will go but right now I think I have a fairly good idea of what to expect (fare-wise) for 2017 so I thought I'd share my thoughts. Patience is going to be the key to snagging the best Business Class deals in 2017 but I think that those prepared to wait will be well rewarded.

British Airways Schedules Multiple Flight Changes For Summer 2017

This is just a quick heads up for anyone booked on a British Airways flight from London Heathrow next summer that the airline has scheduled a few changes (including cancellations) that may affect your plans. The destinations impacted are Boston, Tel Aviv, Las Vegas, Santiago (Chile), Nassau and Grand Cayman.

Travel Awards Are Nonsense….And Here’s An Example Why

I'm a fan of Business Traveller and I find their website an interesting read and a good source of information....but I'm not sure I have that much respect for the opinions of a section of their readership (cue a flurry of emails!) Travel awards are, as a rule, pretty pointless because they're normally sponsored by someone with a vested interest so you can't pay too much attention to the results....but Business Traveller's awards are different. They're above reproach and they should mean something.

Qatar Is Relaxing Visa Rules For Travelers On Short Visits

I'm an unabashed fan of Qatar Airways and that's primarily because the airline offers some truly fantastic Business Class deals from various cities in Europe to any number of cities in Asia. Unsurprisingly all of Qatar Airways flights route through their home base in Doha so, although this can take a little longer than a direct flight, it also offers an opportunity to visit Qatar.

British Airways Executive Club and Avios have both been cashback options for UK TopCashBack members for some time but it's never really been a hugely attractive proposition. There have been quite a few reports of Avios not tracking correctly and the cashback to Avios conversion rate hasn't been good enough to warrant the hassle of having to chase a miss-recorded transaction...up until now.

Win Round The World Business Class Tickets With Star Alliance + Competitions From Radisson...

There are a few competitions running right now that offer the winners some pretty cool travel prizes so I thought I'd highlight them here. The strongest competition is from Star Alliance who are offering two Business Class round the world tickets while Radisson Blu is offering up to 30 nights at any 5 Radisson Blu Hotels in the world as well as airfare courtesy of SAS. The Singapore Airlines competition is the costliest as it's predicated on you buying an airline ticket (the other two are free to enter)....but it also offers the best prize (two first class tickets to anywhere in the world) and offers the most chances of winning.

New Delta One Suite

The New Delta One Suite Looks Fantastic!

You have to feel a little sorry for United and American Airlines (ok you don't really). United and American have been playing catch-up to Delta for years and things looked like they were starting to go their way. American Airlines finally has some excellent Business Class cabins on its long haul aircraft (the 777-300ER currently has the best Business Class seat across the Atlantic and the 787 seats aren't too far behind) and United must have been looking forward to a long period where it clawed back some of the customers it haemorrhaged to Delta with its own impressive-looking Polaris Business Class that is coming in December.

US Hotels Hacked & Credit Card Details Compromised – This Is Getting Pathetic

HEI Hotels & Resorts has confirmed that 20 properties that it manages, including some under the Hyatt, IHG, Marriott and Starwood brands, have seen some of their credit card processing systems compromised and infected with malware. American Airlines Arrivals Lounge Heathrow Terminal 3

American Airlines Heathrow Arrivals Lounge Re-Opens

A fact that quite a few American Airlines frequent flyers seem to forget is that American Airlines has an Arrivals lounge at Heathrow T3 and, if you're flying in on a long haul flight, it can be a good place to freshen up and get a bit to eat before heading on into the city. Since 29 February the arrivals lounge has been closed for renovations (as part of a broader lounge renovation project that American started in 2015) but now it has reopened and is once again ready for use.

Get 15% Off No.1 Lounge Access With Norwegian

British Airways is a former top-tier airline that has gradually repositioned its short-haul service to resemble a low-cost carrier more than the full-service carrier that its better known for being. Generally speaking it has been assumed that British Airways is trying to make its short-haul service more competitive with the likes of easyJet and Ryanair but I'm starting to think that the real competition it will face in the future will be from Norwegian.

British Airways Getting Strict On Lounge Access

With the busy summer season firmly underway British Airways has been reminding staff and agents to enforce lounge access rules to the letter of the law.
