The card_name has just had its welcome offer refreshed and while the overall cash back (or points) that are available hasn’t changed, the way the offer is structured has changed and Chase has added an extra bonus for new cardholders that could make the card a little more valuable in the first year.

The welcome offer

As of today, this is what the welcome offer on the card_name looks like:

bonus_miles_full

Link to more details.

The offer that this has replaced gave new cardholders the opportunity to earn $750 cash back after spending $6,000 in the first three months after getting the card, so this new welcome offer makes the cash back bonus easier to earn while not increasing the overall bonus on offer.

Note: Holders of a Chase Sapphire card or the card_name can take all of the cash back earned through the welcome offer in the form of Ultimate Rewards points (up to 75,000) that can be transferred across to a wide variety of other loyalty programs (more details on this later).

A added extra for new cardholders

The interesting change that Chase has introduced to this card isn’t mentioned in the main welcome offer but is buried in the details of what else it currently offers.

Specifically, this wording has been added:

“If you have the Ink Business Cash card plus a Chase Business Checking account on your first card anniversary, you’ll earn a one-time 10% bonus of all eligible cash back earned in your first year.”

This added bonus is only being made available on cards that are opened between March and November 2024, so this isn’t something that existing cardholders can enjoy.

These are the key terms to this bonus:

  • To qualify, you must open a card_name account between 03/17/2024 and 11/17/2024, your Ink Business Cash card account must be open and not in default and your Business Banking Checking account must be open, as defined in your Business Card and Deposit Account Agreements, at the end of your 12th monthly Chase Ink Business Cash card billing cycle.
  • Cash Back rewards eligible for the 10% Relationship Bonus are:
    • The 5% Cash Back rewards earned on the first $25,000 spent each account anniversary year on office supply stores and internet, cable, and phone services;
    • The 2% Cash Back rewards earned on the first $25,000 spent each anniversary year on gas stations and restaurants; and
    • The 1% Cash Back rewards earned on all other purchases.
  • Cash Back rewards earned through a new cardmember bonus or any other bonus offer, and points moved into your account through the Ultimate Rewards Combine Points feature or any other transfer method, are ineligible.
  • Cash Back rewards must be earned by the end of your 12th monthly billing cycle to be included in the bonus.

Considering Chase is often emailing cardholders with offers of bonuses for opening a business checking account, this could be a good time to combine a new card_name and a new business checking account if you qualify.

Everything you need to know about the card_name

  • It comes with a annual_fees annual fee
  • There’s no charge to add authorized users
  • It allows cardholders to earn 5% cash back on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases (1% thereafter) in the following categories each anniversary year:
    • Office supply stores
    • Internet
    • Cable
    • Phone services
  • It allows cardholders to earn 2% cash back on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases (1% thereafter) in the following categories each anniversary year:
    • Gas station purchases
    • Restaurants
  • Cardholders can earn 1% cash back on all other eligible transactions with no annual cap on earnings.
  • It provides cardholders with primary auto rental cover when renting for business purposes
  • It offers cardholders purchase protection which covers new purchases for 120 days against damage or theft up to $10,000 per claim and $50,000 per account
  • It offers cardholders extended warranty protection
  • Cardholders get access to roadside dispatch

Note: This card doesn’t waive foreign transaction fees so it’s not an economical card to use when abroad.

It can get better

There’s a lot to love about the card_name, and while it’s a great card in its own right, it gets even better if you also hold a Sapphire consumer card (i.e. a card_name or card_name) or the card_name.

This is why:

The cash back that the card_name offers is paid out in the form of Ultimate Rewards points (1% cash back = 1 point), but these are not the same Ultimate Rewards points that are earned by the Sapphire cards or the card_name.

These are points that, at best, can be redeemed as statement credits at a value of 1 cent/point.

If, however, you hold a Sapphire card or the card_name alongside the card_name, the Ultimate Rewards Points you’ll earn will all be of the same type.

The better type.

The type that can be converted into World of Hyatt points, United Airlines miles, Singapore Airlines miles, and a lot more in a ratio of 1:1.

What this means is that if you pair the card_name with a Sapphire Card or the card_name, you can view the earnings that it offers in terms of the currencies that you can convert the points that it earns into.

You could now view the card as one that offers 5 Hyatt points/United Airlines miles/Singapore Airlines miles/Aeroplan points/Avios per dollar on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases at office supply stores, and on internet, cable, and phone services, as well as 2 points/miles/Avios on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases made at gas stations and at restaurants.

Those are fantastic returns on spending and as I’ll now show, not only can these returns be had for no more than $95 in annual fees per year, but they can also be had alongside some great benefits too.

The power pairings

Both the card_name (review) and the card_name (review) only charge $95 in annual fees so someone who holds one of those cards alongside the card_name would open up access to a wide array of benefits and earnings rates for less than $100 per year.

card_name + card_name

For $95 per year, this card pairing would offer the following:

  • 5 points/dollar on travel purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards*
  • 5 points/dollar on Lyft rides (through March 2025) – link
  • 5 points/dollar on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases at office supply stores, and on internet, cable, and phone services (1 point/dollar thereafter)
  • 3 points/dollar on dining worldwide
  • 3 points/dollar on online grocery spending#
  • 3 points/dollar on select streaming services
  • 2 points/dollar on all travel that isn’t booked through Chase Ultimate rewards^
  • 2 points/dollar on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases made at gas stations and at restaurants (1 point/dollar thereafter)
  • 1 point/dollar for eligible spending in all other categories

*Hotel purchases that qualify for the $50 Anniversary Hotel Credit will not earn 5 points/dollar
^Chase’s “travel” category is very broad so you’ll earn 2 points per dollar on everything from airfare, rental cars, and hotel bookings to car parking, tolls, and ride-sharing services.
#Excludes Target, Walmart, and wholesale clubs

  • $50 in statement credits each card anniversary year for hotel stays purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards
  • 10% anniversary points bonus (card_name only)
  • Primary auto rental cover
  • Trip cancellation/interruption insurance
  • Baggage delay insurance
  • Trip delay reimbursement
  • Purchase protection
  • Extended warranty protection
  • No foreign transaction fees (card_name only)
  • Get 1.25 cents/point in value when you spend your points on travel through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal
  • Transfer points to 11 airline partners and 3 hotel partners in a 1:1 ratio (details)

It’s hard to think of a better value pairing between a consumer card and a small business card.

Read a review of the card_name here.

Personally, I think that the card_name/card_name combination is the better combination of the two, but I’m not about to argue with anyone who says that the card_name/card_name works better for them – each to their own!

Bottom line

The Ink Business Cash® credit card is now offering a welcome bonus that allows successful new applicants to earn up to $750 in cash back after they put $6,000 of eligible spending on their new card within 6 months of account opening.

New applicants who also have an open Chase business checking account on their first card anniversary, will earn a one-time 10% bonus of all eligible cash back earned in their first year.

When you consider those two things alongside the overall earnings and benefits package that this card offers, it’s hard not to think that this remains one of the better credit card deals that we’ve seen this year.
