Just last week Starwood announced a $300m injection of funds into their Luxury Collection hotels & resorts and now they’ve announced that they’ve broken ground on Solaz, the Luxury Collection’s new resort in Los Cabos, Mexico.

The new oceanfront resort will encompass 33 acres and will feature “131 luxuriously-appointed guestrooms and suites in five distinct 6-floor buildings

All of the guestrooms are set to come with a “spectacular outdoor terrace” while the 2-bedroom “Presidential Suite” will come with its own private swimming pool.

The resort will have 3 restaurants:

  • An all-day-dining restaurant
  • A specialty restaurant (no news what the specialty will be)
  • A pool area grill/bar.

Other features are set to include:

  • An “expansive pool and beach deck” in excess of 26,000 sqft.
  • A spa and fitness facility spanning approximately 12,500 sqft.
  • 3 tennis courts
  • Miles of walking & running paths
  • 9,000 sqft of “state-of-the-art event space”

The press release also mentions that the resort will include “vacation ownership units” but it’s not clear if these are included in the 131-guestroom count or if these are a separate construction.

The exterior rendering provided by Businesswire.com (above) appears to show more buildings than are accounted for by the 131 guest rooms cited  – perhaps these are the buildings that will house the vacation ownership units?

As the resort is to be managed by Starwood, under the banner of The Luxury Collection, it’s possible that the vacation ownership units will fall under the Starwood Vacation Network (soon to be Vistana Signature Experiences) but there is no mention of this on their webpage.

The resort is scheduled to open in June 2017
