Southwest is an airline that has managed to cultivate a friendly, non-confrontational culture, it’s an airline that doesn’t gouge passengers with fees, and it’s an airline that frequently offers fantastic fares on a number of very popular routes. All of those things are why I’m excited to see the airline putting a considerable amount of focus on expanding its offering in California, my home state.

Towards the end of last year, Southwest announced that it would be adding Long Beach to the list of California airports from which it offers non-stop services to Honolulu and since that announcement was made, we’ve seen the airline announce the addition of five further routes to its Long Beach network and, just recently, it announced that it would offer a new non-stop service between Long Beach and my favorite Hawaiian Island – Maui.

With all of these routes set to take flight from next month (and with TFM having a lot of SoCal-based readers), I thought that I take a quick look at what new destinations Southwest will be serving from Long Beach and what the schedules look like, so here’s a quick roundup.

Keep In Mind

All three of the personal Southwest Credit cards often offer impressive welcome bonuses that can help a cardholder go a long way to earning Southwest’s valuable companion pass with very little effort. If you think you’re going to be using Southwest with any kind of frequency in the coming 12 months then you should probably seriously considering adding one of these cards to your wallet (if you haven’t already got one).

Bottom Line

Southwest will be launching 7 new routes out of Long Beach from 11 March 2021 and two of those will be new non-stop routes to Hawaii. With roundtrip fares on these routes starting from under $80 and with roundtrip flights to Hawaii currently available for just $198, this is very good news for anyone within easy reach of Long Beach
