Over the past week (or so) Qatar Airways has been updating its flight schedules for the coming Northern winter season (2026/27) and it looks like some of the cuts that we saw the airline make earlier in the year will be continuing on into next year.
The cuts run for the whole of the winter season and, on the evidence of what Qatar Airways is doing elsewhere, it doesn’t look like we can expect to see these cuts reversed any time soon.
The schedule changes
The winter 2026/27 season covers travel between the end of October 2026 and the end of March 2027, and the cuts that are continuing in place cover that whole period.
The schedules below show the timings that will be in effect once the full winter season starts, so from 27 October 2026 onwards.
Doha – Atlanta
This route will continue with four weekly flights instead of seven. The current schedule looks like this:
QR755 DOH 08:10 – 15:15 ATL (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun)
QR756 ATL 19:35 – 16:55+1 day DOH (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun)
As things stand, the schedules show that this route will continue to be operated by an Airbus A350-1000.
Doha – Boston
This route will continue with four weekly flights instead of seven. The current schedule looks like this:
QR743 DOH 08:10 – 13:55 BOS (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun)
QR744 BOS 20:40 – 16:30+1 day DOH (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun)
As things stand, the schedules show that this route will continue to be operated by an Airbus A350-900.
Doha – Los Angeles
This route will continue with four weekly flights instead of seven. The current schedule looks like this:
QR739 DOH 07:55 – 12:50 LAX (Tue, Thu, Sat & Sun)
QR740 LAX 15:10 – 17:50+1 day DOH (Tue, Thu, Sat & Sun)
As things stand, the schedules show that this route will continue to be operated by an Airbus A350-1000.
Doha – Miami
This route will continue with seven weekly flights instead of ten. The current schedule looks like this:
QR777 DOH 08:40 – 16:25 MIA (Daily)
QR778 MIA 19:15 – 16:50+1 day DOH (Daily)
As things stand, the schedules show that this route will continue to be operated by an Airbus A350-1000.

It’s not just the US routes
Qatar Airways has also filed reductions across more than 15 European destinations for the winter 2026/27 season, so it’s not just its transatlantic routes that are seeing fewer frequencies.
Over the past few days, the airline’s routes to destinations like Barcelona, Dusseldorf, London, Madrid, and Paris have all seen new cuts to frequencies and while some of these will be inconsequential (London Heathrow will still see well over 50 weekly flights) others are more substantial (Copenhagen, for example, is losing 7 of its 17 weekly flights).
Quick thoughts
At this point, I should reiterate that these US route reductions aren’t new cuts. They’re the continuation of reductions that have been in place since someone decided we needed another war in the Middle East.
What’s new is that it now looks like these cuts are staying in place well into next year and as we’re seeing new cuts appear on other Qatar Airways routes, it feels like we’re more likely to see further cuts to the US routes rather than seeing the original schedules restored.
The thing that I’d like to know is this: Where is Qatar Airways employing all of the aircraft that it has already removed from its US routes and where is it planning to deploy all the aircraft it has just taken off a good number of its European routes?
Are these aircraft just going to be sitting around? (Seems expensive) Are we going to see new routes announced? (Seems unlikely) Or are these aircraft going to be moved to routes where traffic isn’t being hit as badly? (Do such routes exist?).
I’m not surprised that we’re seeing the cuts that we are, but I have no idea what Qatar Airways plans to do with what looks like a material percentage of its fleet.
Bottom line
Qatar Airways will continue to operate its Doha to Atlanta, Boston, and Los Angeles routes 4x/week and its Doha to Miami route 7x/week for the winter 2026/27 season.
Airlines change their schedules frequently, so the timings shown above may well move between now and the winter season, but given the state of the Middle East right now, the number of flights on offer is less likely to change.
If you’re due to fly on any of these routes for travel in winter 2026/27, check your reservations in case something has changed and you haven’t noticed.
Anyone whose flight has been affected will almost certainly have heard from Qatar Airways by now, but it’s worth checking nonetheless (and contacting the airline asap if you spot any issues).
