Resy has now been integrated into ChatGPT, so a user who asks the chatbot for opinions on where to dine can now see live table availability and can make a reservation without moving to the Resy app or the Resy website at any point.
We’re told that the integration went live on 10 August 2026 and for now, it covers Resy restaurants in the United States only.
How it works
When a user asks ChatGPT for a dining recommendation, ChatGPT pulls up a list of restaurant suggestions with real-time reservation availability displayed directly beneath each venue. The search can then be refined by time, party size, cuisine, or price.
Once a time is selected at a Resy restaurant, the user enters their details and confirms the reservation with Resy inside the ChatGPT conversation.
The examples Resy gives of the sort of request that triggers all this are queries along the lines of “best date night spots in Chicago for tomorrow at 7 p.m.” or “great sushi near me for four tonight.”
Resy restaurants are not the only ones bookable this way. OpenTable and Yelp were integrated into ChatGPT at the same time, and the Yelp integration also covers Canada as well as the United States and adds restaurant waitlists on top of reservations.
That’s as far as the announcement goes, and it leaves a few things unaddressed. It doesn’t say whether an existing Resy account can be linked to the conversation so that reservations show up alongside the ones made in the app and so that eligible American Express Card Members can see the inventory reserved for them through the “Global Dining Access” benefit.
It also says nothing about what happens after the booking is confirmed, so whether a reservation made in ChatGPT can be modified or cancelled in the conversation or only in the Resy app is unclear.
Secondary coverage of the wider OpenAI launch suggests changes have to be made on the reservation platform’s own site or app, but that isn’t confirmed for Resy specifically.
It’s worth noting that this news comes on top of the news that Resy has added Tock’s restaurants and wineries onto its own platform, taking Resy past 25,000 venues, so, presumably, this means that the number of restaurants that ChatGPT access has just grown considerably.

Resy frames the launch as getting its restaurants in front of people at the moment the decision is being made, and describes it as part of a wider effort to build what it calls “new demand channels” for restaurants across events, partnerships, and discovery experiences.
American Express, which owns Resy, describes the partnership as “another step” in a strategy to deliver AI-powered experiences for Card Members and to extend access to assets like Resy through what it calls “leading AI platforms.”
Quick thoughts
I don’t use ChatGPT and have no more interest in using it now than I did before, but I can see how this may be useful to holders of the Platinum Card® from American Express who already use ChatGPT to organize their social activities.
The Platinum Card gives card holders a $100 Resy credit every quarter, so if you’re a card holder getting restaurant suggestions from ChatGPT, you’re probably going to want to see where you can use that credit (front and center) the next time you get the chatbot’s opinion.
Having said that, for a lot of people this won’t make the slightest bit of difference as, I suspect, only a very small minority of the population use ChatGPT (and some of the people who do probably don’t use it for dining reservations).
For that group (in which I include myself), the news that Resy has expanded to include Tock and that we will soon be able to use the Amex credits at Tock restaurants around the United States is a much bigger deal.
Bottom line
If you use ChatGPT to help organize your social life, you may be interested to know that you can now make Resy (and Yelp and OpenTable) bookings from directly within the chatbot.
It would be nice to have a bit of clarity around how this will dovetail with Amex card holder benefits, but assuming this has been thought this through (never a certainty), I can see how it may be useful to some.
