IHG’s current global points promotion isn’t really worth getting excited about and in what appears to be a further bid to bore members to death, it has now launched an equally dull European sale in which it’s offering discounts “from 15%” for stays through March next year.

Quick thoughts
There are two key things to recognize here:
Firstly, the discounts on offer are based on the best flexible rate which is often not the cheapest rate that IHG publishes and that means that the unimpressive headline saving of 15% will not always apply.
Secondly, the sale rates are actually a little flexible which makes a nice change.
Usually, the sale rates are based on the flexible rate but don’t offer any flexibility. This time around, however, you appear to be able to cancel without penalty up to 7 days before your check-in date.
I haven’t had the chance (or the time) to do many in-depth searches to see what all the savings are like or what’s available across Europe and the UK and the low discount percentage being promoted doesn’t give me much hope.
However, having said that, this sale is offering a very long stay window (through March 2027) and with January, February and March often offering some of the most economical rates at properties around Europe, there’s a chance that someone willing to risk the European winter weather could find a few good deals.
Bottom line
IHG is currently running a sale for stays in Europe and the UK in which it’s offering IHG One Rewards members a minimum of 15% off the best flexible rates for bookings made by 31 August 2026 that relate to stays that will be completed by 31 March 2027.
