It’s the start of a new month so a number of new Amex offers have dropped and one is offering targeted cardholders a $250 statement in exchange for Delta bookings made through Amex Travel. The catch here is that it looks like the offer is being targeted to Platinum and Centurion cardholders only.

Quick thoughts
The first bit of good news is that multiple purchases totaling at least $2,000 or more will trigger this offer so you don’t have to spend the whole amount in one transaction to trigger the credit.
The second bit of good news is that, unusually for Amex, there isn’t any wording in the terms that suggests that travel has to originate in the US. There’s wording that says that payment must be made in USD, but I’ve just tried a dummy Amex Travel booking London – New York and been quoted a price in USD.
On the checkout page there’s even a note pointing out that the charge will be in USD.
This probably won’t make a huge amount of difference to a lot of people, but expats should like this and it’s nice to see an Amex airfare offer that’s valid for travel originating outside of the US.
The final bit of good news is that although cardholders only have until 31 August 2026 to trigger this offer, that’s only the deadline for booking a qualifying flight. By the end of August Delta will be offering flights into June and July 2027, so the travel window for this offer is huge.
The one clear bit of bad news here is that the offer appears to only be targeted to Platinum and cardholders, so that really narrows down the size of the population that will have access to this deal (it’s not clear if this includes holders of the Business Platinum® Card from American Express).
Still, at least the Platinum Card® from American Express earns 5 points/dollar on up to $500,000 of spending made with Amex Travel or directly with airlines (1 point/dollar thereafter – terms apply) so the points haul alongside this offer should be good.
Bottom line
If you’re considering making one or more flight bookings in the next couple of months for travel as far into the future as June or July 2027, log into your Amex account and check to see if you have been targeted for an offer that would save you $250 on $2,000 (or more) of spending on Delta bookings made through Amex Travel.
