Thoughts
A key point to note is that I can’t see anything in the terms and conditions to suggest that only bookings made after registration will count, so as long as you register for the promotion before your next stay at a Hyatt Place or Hyatt Select in the United States, Canada, Caribbean or Latin America (between now and 31 July), it shouldn’t matter when you made the booking.
That should be good news for quite a few people.
In further good news, this promotion will stack with any other World of Hyatt promotions that you may have been targeted for or that are ongoing, so you may be able to earn bonuses from more than one promotion during a single stay.
Overall, this isn’t a particularly exciting or lucrative promotion, but if you already have some eligible stays planned it’s better than no promotion at all. Clearly, there’s not much here to encourage new bookings or to encourage someone to move one or more stays across from a different hotel chain, but this may well appeal to a few road warriors who use Hyatt’s limited service properties when they’re working away from home.
At TFM, we value World of Hyatt points at 1.4 cents each (based on the value we know we can get out of them with relative ease – yes, even after the recent devaluation) and that means that, effectively, this promotion is offering us a rebate of $42 for every three eligible nights that we stay (capped at 30 nights).
As I said, not really very exciting, but at least award nights will count towards the promotion’s goals.
Bottom line
Hyatt is now running a promotion in which it’s offering World of Hyatt members the opportunity to earn up to 30,000 bonus points through stays made at Hyatt Place and Hyatt Select properties in the US, Canada, the Caribbean, and Latin America.
The good news is that award nights and existing bookings will count towards this promotions goals while the bad news is that unless you make a stay of at least 3 nights at a participating property (after registration and during the promotion period), you won’t earn any bonus points at all.
