The World of Hyatt has launched a new promotion which may be targeted and which may be the most boring and unrewarding promotion the program has ever published.
Across July and August, World of Hyatt members can earn up to 8,000 bonus points (ah how they spoil us!), and as if the paltry maximum bonus wasn’t bad enough, the terms have two annoying clauses built into them (one of which I though Hyatt had finally stopped using).
The promotion
Earn 2,000 bonus World of Hyatt points for every two eligible nights you stay, beginning on your second stay between 1 July and 7 September 2026. Total bonus earnings from this promotion are capped at 8,000 points.
Key terms
- Beginning on your second Eligible Stay after registration and during the Promotion Period, you will receive 2,000 Bonus Points for every two (2) Eligible Nights at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts worldwide, Mr & Mrs Smith hotels, the Venetian Resort, and Homes & Hideaways by World of Hyatt.
- Your first Eligible Stay must be completed at a participating property. For a property to be participating in the promotion, it needs to be participating in World of Hyatt at the time of the member’s reservation and stay.
- All points awarded under this promotion are Bonus Points.
- A maximum of 8,000 Bonus Points may be earned under this promotion.
- If a member chooses to earn Bonus Miles, the bonus will be awarded in World of Hyatt Bonus Points.
- For the purpose of this promotion, an “Eligible Night” is defined as any night where a member is paying an Eligible Rate or redeems a free night award and “Eligible Stay” is defined as any stay where a member is paying an Eligible Rate or redeems a free night award. Stays on consecutive nights at the same hotel will constitute one stay.
- If a stay has Eligible Nights during the Promotion Period but is not completed during the Promotion Period, the stay must be completed by March 7, 2027, in order to have those Eligible Nights on that stay that were completed after registration and during the Promotion Period count for this promotion.
- Only the room occupied by the member will count toward this promotion. Y
- Stays at Mr & Mrs Smith hotels, the Venetian Resort, and Homes & Hideaways by World of Hyatt must be booked through Hyatt booking channels to be eligible for this promotion.
- Please allow two to three weeks after checkout for Bonus Points to be posted to your World of Hyatt account.
- This promotion is combinable with other offers unless expressly restricted by the other offer
Full terms and conditions can be found on the promotion page.
Quick thoughts
There’s a lot not to like here and if this turns out to be Hyatt’s version of a summer global promotion, I almost which that it hadn’t bothered.
Firstly, a maximum of 8,000 points is a truly derisory cap to place on a promotion spanning 8 weeks.
We value Hyatt points at 1.4 cents each, so to us, that’s an effective rebate of $112. That’s $122 in exchange for a minimum of 9 eligible nights across at least 2 stays ($12.44/night).
Secondly, this nonsense about first stays not counting towards the promotion goals needs to stop. It’s not like Hyatt is offering something wonderful here and very valuable here. It’s offering members a rebate that’s worth, at most, a little under $13/night (capped at $122).
Thirdly, and this the more minor of the annoyances, if Hyatt is going to offer members such a low number of bonus points, couldn’t it have made the promotion work or a per night basis rather than per two nights?
I’m not sure who in Hyatt came up with this, but this would have been a miserly promotion had it been unveiled at this point last year. Offering this up now, following the very recent award chart devaluation and the devaluation of the Chase to Hyatt transfer ratio, is pathetic.
Bottom line
The World Hyatt has got a new promotion which will cover stays between 1 July and 7 September 2026 and it may be the worst and most boring promotion that the program has ever released.
Members can earn just 2,000 points per two nights consumed, maximum earnings are capped at just 8,000 points, and the first stay during the promotion period won’t count.
This is so bad that it has me wondering if Hyatt been taken over by Marriott and we haven’t been told?
