Emirates has added Crypto.com Pay as a payment option on emirates.com and the Emirates App, so select customers can now pay for flights straight from a Crypto.com wallet.
The details
The Emirates and Crypto.com partnership isn’t new because the two signed a memorandum of understanding in July 2025 to look at integrating Crypto.com Pay into the Emirates booking systems. This launch is that plan going live a little over a year later.
To use this option, you need a Crypto.com account and you select Crypto.com Pay at the payment step when booking on emirates.com or in the Emirates App. Essentially, this is PayPal for Crypto currencies.
The integration runs through Crypto.com’s Dubai entity, which, we’re told, was the first Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) to be granted a Stored Value Facilities (SVF) license by the Central Bank of the UAE.
Emirates tells us that this move is part of the “Dubai Cashless Strategy under the D33 Economic Agenda“, which aims to make 90% of the financial transactions carried out in Dubai being digital by the end of 2026.
For the time being, this option will only be available to eligible UAE residents, and only for bookings priced and settled in Emirati Dirham (AED).
How it works
The process differs slightly by device.
On desktop, customers need to select Crypto.com Pay at checkout on emirates.com, scan the QR code shown on the booking page, and approve the payment in their Crypto.com app. The confirmation and e-ticket are then issued on the screen.
On a mobile device, booking through the Emirates App sends you across to the Crypto.com app to approve the payment from your wallet, then back to the Emirates App for your confirmation and e-ticket.
Bottom line
Emirates now allows customers based in the UAE to pay for their flights/trips/add-ons via a Crypto.com account. For the time being, this won’t be relevant to most TFM readers, but there’s no reason to think that this option won’t be expanded (in time), so it’s worth knowing about.
