In a recent schedule change, Qatar Airways has significantly increased the number of flights it will be offering between Doha and Northern Europe and, considering the Business Class fares the airline frequently offers out of these destinations, this is very good news for bargain hunters.

Qatar Airways Oslo Service Increase

From 2 December 2019 Qatar Airways will be increasing the number of weekly flights it offers between Doha and Oslo from 10 to 14.

The new schedule is set to look like this:

QR179 DOH 01:40 – 06:35 OSL (Daily)*
QR175 DOH 09:00 – 13:55 OSL (Daily)

QR180 OSL 07:45 – 16:20 DOH (Daily)*
QR176 OSL 15:55 – 00:30+1 day DOH (Daily)

*Existing service only operates Tue, Thu & Sat

Both daily flights are operated by Qatar Airways A350-900 aircraft although, sadly, they aren’t the A350’s retrofitted with the Qsuites Business Class cabin – ExpertFlyer is still showing the usual 1-2-1 seat layout for these flights.

Qatar Airways Gothenburg Service Increase

From 3 December 2019 Qatar Airways will be increasing the number of weekly flights it offers between Doha and Gothenburg from 5 to 7.

The new schedule is set to look like this:

QR173 DOH 01:55 – 06:35 GOT (Mon, Tue, Thu & Sun)**
QR177 DOH 08:20 – 13:00 GOT (Wed, Fri & Sat)
QR174 GOT 08:05 – 16:10 DOH (Mon, Tue, Thu & Sun)**

QR178 GOT 15:10 – 23:15 DOH (Wed, Fri & Sat)

**Tuesday service added
***Friday service added

Both flights are operated by Qatar Airways 787-8 Dreamliners which, although not equipped with Qsuites, offer an excellent Business Class seat (very similar to what you’ll find on the A350).

Qatar Airways 787 Business Class Review

Bottom Line

I’m genuinely delighted by this news as Norway and Sweden are the two countries that most often offer up amazing Qatar Airways Business Class fares.

I often worry that the fantastic Qatar Airways deals we see out of Oslo, Stockholm, and Gothenburg will dry up (and they did for a while), but with yet more Business Class seats which will soon need to be filled I can’t see the great deals disappearing anytime soon.

I have to add that I’m really not sure what Qatar Airways is doing here as on just about every occasion I’ve flown with the airline out of Northern Europe (and I’ve done this quite a few times) the Business Class cabins have been half-full (at best) so this extra capacity seems a little odd.

Still, this is great news for those of us who love to travel between Europe and Asia economically and in a great deal of comfort (and who don’t mind a connection or two) and great news for those of us who enjoy using the great Qatar Airways fares as an incredibly economical path to oneworld status.
