A few weeks ago, Etihad told us that a series of new route announcements were on the way and over the past few days, the airline has been dropping hints as to what these new routes will be. Today, the new routes have been announced with Asia being the main beneficiary but with the US getting a new route too.
Etihad’s route expansion for 2025
Algiers
Starting on 7 November 2025, Etihad plans to offer a 4x/week service between Abu Dhabi and Algiers on the following provisional schedule:
EY737 AUH 02:50 – 07:40 ALG (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun)
EY738 ALG 09:40 – 19:10 AUH (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun)
Etihad plans to operate this route with it’s yet-to-be-delivered A321LR aircraft which is expected to offer the following cabin configurations:
- 2 lie-flat First Class seats in a 1-1 layout
- 14 lie-flat Business Class seats in a 1-1 layout
- 144 Economy Class seats in a 3-3 layout
Full details showing what the new aircraft will offer are not expected until early next year.
Atlanta
From 2 July 2025 Etihad plans to offer a 4x/week service between Abu Dhabi and Atlanta with the schedule expected to look like this:
EY013 AUH 09:30 – 16:30 ATL (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun)
EY014 ATL 22:00 – 19:30+1 day AUH (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun)
The route is set to be operated by Etihad’s A350-1000 aircraft which offer the following cabin configurations:
- 44 lie-flat Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 layout
- 45 Economy Space seats in a 3-3-3 layout
- 282 Regular Economy Class seats in a 3-3-3 layout
The Business Class seats are Etihad’s newest Collins Aerospace Vector suites which come with a privacy door, 21″ of width, and which can be converted into a bed measuring 79″.
The Economy Space seats offer 5″ of recline, are 18″ wide and offer 35″ of pitch while the regular Economy Class seats offer the same recline and width but only 31″ of recline.
Chiang Mai
Starting 3 November 2025 Etihad will offer a 4 weekly flight to Thailand’s second largest city on the following provisional schedule:
EY426 AUH 21:10 – 05:55+1 day CNX (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun)
EY427 CNX 08:45 – 13:00 AUH (Mon, Tue, Thu & Sat)
Just like the Algiers route, Etihad plans to operate this service using its new A321LR aircraft.
Hanoi
On 3 November 2025 Etihad plans to launch a 6 weekly service between Abu Dhabi and Hanoi on the following provisional schedule:
EY430 AUH 08:50 – 18:10 HAN (Mon, Tue & Thu-Sun)
EY431 HAN 19:25 – 00:30+1 day AUH (Mon-Wed & Fri-Sun)
This is another route that the airline plans to operate using its new A321LR aircraft (see the details provided for the Algiers route).
Hong Kong
Technically, this is a route re-launch rather than a new route as Etihad was operating between Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong until the COVID19 pandemic led to it being suspended in January 2020.
From 3 November 2025 (almost 6 years since suspension), the route is expected to return on something approaching the following schedule:
EY870 AUH 21:45 – 08:40+1 day HKG (Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri & Sun)
EY871 HKG 19:25 – 00:15+1 day AUH (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri & Sat)
Etihad’s 787-9s will operate this route and assuming Etihad’s booking engine is correct, this will be the layout offered:
- 28 lie-flat Business Class seats
- 81 Economy Space seats
- 181 Regular Economy Class seats
Etihad operates its 787-9s in two different configurations, and in this configuration the Business Class cabin offers the Etihad Studio seat (not the newer Collins Element seat) which is 22″ wide and can convert into a bed measuring up to 80.5″.
The Economy Space seats in this aircraft offer 6″ of recline, are 17.2″ wide and offer 33″ of pitch, while the regular Economy Class seats offer the same recline and width but only 31″ of recline.
Krabi
From 9 October 2025, Etihad will launch a new service to yet another destination in Thailand – Krabi – and as things stand, this is expected to be the schedule:
EY424 AUH 08:50 – 18:40 KBV (Daily)
EY425 KBV 20:40 – 00:30+1 day AUH (Daily)
Once again, this is another of the new routes that’s set to be operated by Etihad’s new A321LR aircraft details of which you can find earlier in this article (the Algiers route section).
Medan
Medan is, apparently (I had to look it up!), the capital and largest city of north Sumatra (Indonesia), and its airport is expected to be served by Etihad from 2 October 2025 on the following schedule:
EYTBC AUH 021:10 – 07:10+1 day KNO (Tue, Thu & Sat)
EYTBC KNO 09:05 – 13:00+1 day AUH (Wed, Fri & Sun)
Again, Etihad expects to operate this route using its yet-to-be delivered A321LR aircraft.
Phnom Penh
From 3 October 2025 Etihad plans to offer a 4x/week service between Abu Dhabi and Cambodia’s capital city on the following schedule:
EY434 AUH 21:10 – 07:20+1 PNH (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun)
EY435 PNH 08:40 – 13:00 AUH (Mon, Tue, Thu & Sat)
Again, Etihad expects to operate this route using its yet-to-be delivered A321LR aircraft.
Taipei
Taipei will be getting a new daily service from Etihad when the airline launches flights on 3 September 2025 on the following schedule:
EY898 AUH 21:45 – 09:50+1 TPE (Daily)
EY899 TPE 19:35 – 00:15+1 AUH (Daily)
Just as with the Hong Kong route, the new service to Taipei will be operated using 787-9 Dreamliners and as things stand, these will be Dreamliners where the Business Class cabin features the Etihad Studio seat and not the newer Collins Element seat.
Tunis
The last (alphabetically) of Etihad’s new destinations is Tunis which is expected to get flights from Abu Dhabi starting from 1 November 2025 on the following schedule:
EY739 AUH 02:50 – 06:50 TUN (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun)
EY740 TUN 10:20 – 19:10 AUH (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun)
This is another route on which Etihad plans to employ its new A321LR aircraft once they’re delivered.

Important to note
It should go without saying that all of these schedules are subject to change as we’re still almost a year away from most of the launch dates, but there’s one other thing that anyone planning to book the routes to Algiers, Chiang Mai, Hanoi, Krabi, Medan, Phnom Penh, or Tunis should keep in mind – Etihad has yet to take delivery of a single A321LR aircraft.
Aircraft deliveries from Airbus can (and have been) delayed, and Etihad seems to be putting a lot of faith in the fact that it will be receiving all its 2025 A321LR deliveries on time (it has also said that it will operate the new aircraft to Copenhagen and Düsseldorf from October 2025).
Based on recent history, that’s far from a certainty, so while it will be fantastic to see all of these new A321LR routes launch exactly when Etihad is currently saying they will launch, anyone booking one of these routes should keep in mind that there’s a reasonable chance that there will be delays and that their plans may be changed.
Bottom line
After telling us to look out for new route announcements a couple of months ago and after teasing the new destinations over the past few days, Etihad has finally revealed which new routes it plans to start up from (mostly) late next year.
On the ten destinations named, seven are in Asia, two are in Africa, and one is in the United States, so anyone hoping for more European expansion will probably have to wait until the next set of new route announcements which are expected in January/February 2025.
