Emirates has announced the opening of its new lounge at Rome’s Fiumicino airport and, thanks to the images supplied by the airline, we can now get a glimpse inside the new facility.

Emirates’ new Rome lounge is located in Terminal 3, Level 2 and is adjacent to gates E22 & E24 so this isn’t just a renovation of the old space – the Emirates lounge has moved locations.

The space occupies approximately 10,200 square feet (950 square meters) and offers views across the runway and direct boarding on to Emirates’ flights (no need to head to the gate area).

All Emirates First Class and Business Class customers have complimentary access to the lounge as do Skywards Platinum and Gold members when travelling on one of Emirates’ two daily flights between Rome and Dubai.

Paid access is also available for some flyers.

Here are the full access rules as shown on the airline’s website:

Here’s how Emirates has described its new lounge:

Built to the latest interior design standards for Emirates lounges worldwide, it has a contemporary design and a fresh look and feel, featuring amenities and facilities which include LED TVs, comfortable leather armchairs, a choice of formal and relaxed seating, a dining area, a prayer room, shower facilities, business centre and bespoke artworks.

Customers are also able to enjoy an extensive complimentary hot and cold buffet, including a variety Italian and Roman specialities, seasonal options, and a fine selection of international wines and beverages. A Kids menu is also available for our younger guests.

Bottom Line

The airline says it has spent over $4.5 million in bringing this facility to Rome so, with seating for 162 guests, that works out at an investment of $27,778 per seat….so it had better be good! 🙂

From what the images show the lounge looks nice and, importantly, it has large floor-to-ceiling windows which should let in a lot of natural light (there’s nothing quite like the lack of natural light to make even the most exclusive of lounges feel oppressive and small).

It also looks like the ceilings in the lounge ate pretty high so that should give a good feeling of space to the new facility.

Overall, and without having seen the lounge first hand, this looks like good work from Emirates and a nice step up from the lounge this has replaced.
