Double Southwest Points promotion (4 days only!)

Southwest has launched a new promotion in which it’s offering members of its Rapid Rewards program double points on flights booked by the end of Monday (15 June).

Key terms

• Earn double Rapid Rewards points when you:
  • Register by 15 June 2026 at 11:59 p.m. CT and
  • Then book a qualifying flight on Southwest Airlines between 12 June and 15 June 2026 at 11:59 p.m. CT and
  • Then fly between 12 June and 18 November 2026 at 11:59 p.m. CT
• To register for this promotion, you will need to provide your Rapid Rewards account number at the time of registration.
• Member must register for this promotion during the Registration Period, and registration must be completed prior to the commencement of travel.
• Member’s qualifying flights must be booked through Southwest.com®, the Southwest® mobile app, swabiz.com (SWABIZ®), Global Distribution System (GDS), or Southwest Partner Services (SPS) distribution channels with Southwest Airlines inventory during the Booking Period for travel during the Travel Period.
• Member’s flight(s) must be completed during the Travel Period.
• Member’s Rapid Rewards account number must be entered at the time of booking
• Member’s qualifying flight to earn double Rapid Rewards points for that flight.
• A qualifying flight is a one-way revenue flight on Southwest Airlines from an origin city to a destination city, including any intermediate stops and/or connections, or a round trip revenue flight on Southwest Airlines from an origin city to a destination city and back to the originating airport or carrier-recognized co-terminal.
• Travel booked and/or flown prior to registration for this promotion is not eligible for the double points offer.
• Rapid Rewards earned points are calculated using the base fare. Member will receive 14 bonus points per dollar spent on Choice Extra fares, 10 bonus points per dollar spent on Choice Preferred fares, 6 bonus points per dollar spent on Choice fares, and 2 bonus points per dollar spent on Basic fares.
• Qualifying flights include flights operated by Southwest Airlines and paid entirely with U.S. dollars, Southwest LUV Vouchers®, gift cards, flight credits, and those paid with Cash + Points.
• With a Cash + Points booking, points are earned only on the portion of the base fare that is paid with U.S. dollars.
• Qualifying flights exclude reward flights, charter flights, group travel, nonrevenue travel, Getaways by Southwest packages, and Companion Pass travel.
• Bonus points are in addition to the standard flight points earned through Rapid Rewards.
• Bonus points will not count toward A-List, A-List Preferred, or Companion Pass qualification.
• Member will receive Rapid Rewards bonus points within 72 hours after completion of the entire ticket.
• Changes made to the itinerary after purchase may eliminate qualification for promotion.
• This promotion cannot be combined with any other promotion.

Quick thoughts

Southwest has been losing fans following some of the changes that it has been making to how it does things (seating is now assigned, the two free checked bag benefit is gone, etc….), so maybe this will bring a bit of cheer to those who are, currently, sticking with the airline.

Here’s how the double points will be awarded:

• Basic fares – 2 Base Points + 2 Bonus Points = 4 Points/dollar
• Choice fares – 6 Base Points + 6 Bonus Points = 12 Points/dollar
• Choice Preferred fares – 10 Base Points + 10 Bonus Points = 20 points/dollar
• Choice Extra fares – 14 Base Points + 14 Bonus Points= 28 points/dollar

Using the TFM valuation for Rapid Rewards points (1.2 cents/point) we could earn effective rebates of between 4.8% and 33.6% while this promotion is in progress.

If we avoid Basic fares, our minimum effective rebate would rise to 14.4% and that’s good going.

As far as I can tell, the important things to remember here are that you need to register and then book your flights for the bonus points promotion to kick in (existing bookings will not count unless you cancel and rebook after you have registered – this may or may not be an economically sound decision) and you need to have completed your flying by the end of 18 November 2026 (Central Time).

Other than that, this is a straightforward 2x promotion that doesn’t require much thought.

Bottom line

For four days only (including today) Southwest Rapid Rewards members who make new bookings can earn double points on flights taken through 18 November 2026.

The key thing to remember is that you must register before you make any bookings as any flights booked before registration will not earn the bonus (fellow West Coasters should also remember that the promotion ends at Central Time on Monday so you will only have until 21:59 on Monday to finalize your bookings).
