ANA has today announced its list of route postponements and suspensions for the summer 2021 season and with little sign that the world is getting the pandemic under control and with the United States contemplating mandatory quarantine requirements for all international travelers, it’s no surprise to see ANA cutting back on its US operations.
The Route Cuts/Postponements
ANA has announced two route cuts:
- Narita – New York (JFK)
- Narita – San Francisco
ANA has announced two route postponements:
- Haneda – Los Angeles (2nd daily flight)
- Haneda – San Jose
With the world as it is, these schedule changes are subject to revision but it’s unlikely that ANA would have made these announcements if it thought that there was much of a chance of these routes being viable in summer 2021.
ANA’s Current USA Routes & Plans
This is what ANA’s services look like right now and what the Summer 2021 season currently has in store:
Tokyo Haneda Routes
To Chicago – This route is not currently operating but a daily service is scheduled to operate in summer 2021.
To Honolulu – This route is currently being operated 2x/week and the schedules show it continuing to operate 2x/week in summer 2021.
To Houston – This route is currently operating 3x/week and is scheduled to operate daily in summer 2021.
To Los Angeles – ANA is currently operating a daily service on this route and daily service is scheduled to continue in summer 2021. The launch of a second daily service (NH126/125) has been postponed.
To New York (JFK) – This route is currently operating 4x/week and is scheduled to operate daily in summer 2021.
To San Francisco – ANA is currently operating this route 3x/week but it will be suspended for summer 2021.
To San Jose – The launch of this route has been postponed and it’s not scheduled to operate in Summer 2021.
To Seattle – Route not currently operating but scheduled to return in summer 2021 with a daily service.
To Washington D.C. (IAD) – This route is currently operating 3x/week and is scheduled to operate 3x/week in summer 2021.
Tokyo Narita Routes
To Chicago – This route is currently getting a daily service and a daily service is scheduled to operate in summer 2021.
To Los Angeles – ANA is currently operating this route 4x/week and is scheduled to operate the route with daily service in summer 2021.
To New York (JFK) – This route doesn’t appear to have any flights operating past 1 February and it is suspended for summer 2021.
To San Francisco – This route is not currently operating and has been suspended for Summer 2021.
Note: Not all of these route changes are currently showing in the systems and as ANA hasn’t come out with a list of routes that it is currently operating, I have had to rely on ExpertFlyer to see what flights will and will not be available after 28 March 2021 – if you spot any errors, let me know and I’ll adjust this post accordingly.
Bottom Line
ANA has suspended two US routes and postponed two US routes for the upcoming summer season but that still leaves the airline operating nine routes to seven US cities between 28 March and 30 October 2021…so things could have been worse!
