Alaska Airlines Adds Three New Routes To Mexico For Winter 2021/22

Bay Area residents rejoice. Alaska Airlines has today announced that it’s adding three new routes to Mexico for Winter 2021/22 and all three routes will be originating in San Francisco. Alaska Airlines already boasts more non-stop flights between the West Coast and Mexico than any other airline and this news just shores up that lead.

Alaska Airlines New SFO Routes

In the past five months, Alaska Airlines has announced new routes out the Pacific Northwestnew routes to California’s wine country, new routes between California and a number of National Parks in Montana, and new winter routes out of three west coast cities. Now the airline is back with more Winter 2021/22 news as it announces the launch of three new routes out of San Francisco.

The new routes:

San Francisco – Loreto

From 18 December 2021, Alaska Airlines will operate a Saturday service between San Francisco and Loreto with the airline confirming that it plans to operate this route through 16 April 2022. At the time of writing, this is what the planned schedule looks like::

AS1138 SFO 1030 – 1458 LTO (Sat)
AS1139 LTO 1540 – 1828 SFO (Sat)

This route will be operated by Alaska’s Airbus A320 aircraft (more info below).

San Francisco – Mazatlán

From 18 December 2021, Alaska Airlines will operate a Saturday service between San Francisco and Mazatlán with the airline confirming that it plans to operate this route through 16 April 2022. At the time of writing, this is what the planned schedule looks like:

AS1292 SFO 12:00 – 15:40 MZT (Sat)
AS1293 MZT 16:50 – 18:45 SFO (Sat)

This route will be operated by Alaska’s Airbus A320 aircraft (more info below).

San Francisco – Zihuatanejo

From 18 December 2021, Alaska Airlines will operate a Saturday service between San Francisco and Zihuatanejo with the airline confirming that it plans to operate this route through 16 April 2022. At the time of writing, this is what the planned schedule looks like:

AS1438 SFO 1030 – 1458 ZIH (Sat)
AS1439 ZIH 1540 – 1828 SFO (Sat)

This route will be operated by Alaska’s Airbus A320 aircraft (more info below).

The Aircraft

Alaska’s new routes from San Francisco will all be operated using the airline’s Airbus A320 aircraft.

The First Class cabin offers seats that are 21″ wide and that offer 41″ of pitch (legroom), the “Premium Class” seats offer a little under 18″ of width and 37″ of pitch, while the standard Economy Class seats offer a little under 18″ of width and just 31″ of pitch.

Alaska has confirmed that customers will be able to stay connected with inflight internet or satellite Wi-Fi available on most flights (for a fee) and that for entertainment, they’ll be able to select from more than 1,000 movies and TV shows that can be streamed to their own personal devices for free.

The airline has also recently brought back expanded food and beverage services on its flights, adding more West-Coast-inspired meals in First Class (like Guajillo Chile-Lime Salad with ancient grains) and additional fresh food items throughout the cabin that can be pre-ordered before departure up to two weeks before departure. Customers can also enjoy free craft beer, West Coast wines, and cocktails in First Class and Premium Class, and these drinks are also available for purchase in the main cabin.

Bottom Line

Starting on 18 December 2021 and running through 16 April 2022, Alaska Airlines will offer three new Saturday-only services between San Francisco (SFO) and Mexico. These routes are all now loaded into the Alaska Airlines system and all should be available to book as of right now.
