Quick Thoughts

With business travel set to remain in the doldrums for quite some time, airlines are doing what they can to grab anything they can get from the leisure market (it’s no surprise that United announced new routes to Hawaii yesterday and that Southwest plans new routes to Palm Springs ).

Every new route that JetBlue has said it plans to start this winter has a heavy focus on leisure travel with obvious plays for travelers looking to exchange the winter weather in areas like Montana and New York for the sun-filled skies of Florida, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Expect to see more and more announcements like these as Business travel continues to falter.

Bottom Line

JetBlue is adding a total of 24 new routes to its winter schedule with Newark and Los Angeles seeing most new flights but with Raleigh-Durham well represented too. All the routes will be launching from 19 November or 18 December and bookings for most of these new routes already on sale.
