Emirates opened its new First & Business Class lounge in Cairo on Thursday last week and has shared details of what the new lounge offers as well as a few images too.
The new lounge can be accessed by Emirates First and Business Class customers as well as Skywards Platinum and Gold members (Silver members only get complimentary lounge access in Dubai).
The Emirates Cairo lounge cost $3.6m to construct (according to the airline) and is located on level 2 of the departures area of Cairo Airport Terminal 2.
Covering an area of 880 sq. m. (~9,500 sq. ft.) the lounge seats up to 152 guests and has been designed to provide premium cabin passengers (and Skywards elites) “with a relaxing ambiance, luxurious facilities and amenities“.
The lounge offers leather armchairs, a choice of relaxed or formal seating and multiple LED TV screens.
There’s a dedicated dining area which offers “an extensive menu of complimentary hot and cold gourmet buffet, including local and international dishes and an extensive beverage service” and, like in all good lounges, there are shower facilities too.
Emirates has also said that the lounge offers a range of luxury spa products from VOYA which include hair & body wash, conditioner, hand cream and hand wash. As there’s no mention of a spa in the lounge I’m left to assume that these are on offer in the showers and washrooms.
Last but not least, there’s a separate fully equipped “business centre” with touchscreen workstations and printing facilities.
Bottom Line
At almost 9,500 square feet in area this is a good-size lounge and, based on the few images we’ve been provided, it looks ok too.
As is the case with nearly all “First & Business Class” lounges this is very much a Business Class lounge that First Class flyers happen to use so don’t turn up expecting anything above what a good Business Class lounge offers.
Still, a new lounge is always nice to have and it certainly looks better than some of the other lounges I’ve seen in Cairo and it even looks better than a number of other “First & Business Class” lounges I’ve experienced (I’m thinking of you Cathay Pacific!).
If anyone is passing through Cairo on Emirates and has a chance to drop in to try the lounge out please report back and let us know what it’s like in real life, thanks.
