You have to hand it to Hyatt, there isn’t another hotel chain that seems to be doing as much to expand its footprint, and it’s doing so by adding properties that readers of this blog will probably actually want to visit (I’m bored of press releases informing me of another hotel opening in a location only business people may be interested in visiting).

Hyatt’s partnership with Small Luxury Hotels has been a great boost to the World of Hyatt program but the additions of Joie de Vivre, Thompson and, most recently, Alila properties have been great news too.

Now Hyatt is ready to add the final brand of its Two Roads Hospitality purchase to its World of Hyatt loyalty program.

Starting in August, World of Hyatt members will see the first of the Destination Hotel properties joining the program and more hotels will be added as the year progresses.

Here’s the rollout as Hyatt has it right now:

That’s a total of 8 hotels for now and the remaining 28 properties in the Destination Hotels portfolio should be added later this year.

Earn Bonus Points At New Properties

As a little sweetener, Hyatt is currently offering World of Hyatt members the chance to earn bonus points when they try out one of the new brands for the first time.

Guests can earn 2,000 bonus Hyatt points for their first stay at each of the new brands (Joie de Vivre, Thompson Hotels, Alila, and Destination Hotels) and anyone trying out all 4 brands will earn a certificate for a free night at a Hyatt property of their choice (category 1 – 4).

No registration is required for this offer as Hyatt can track your stays through your World of Hyatt account but be aware that eligible stays will only count once the properties are officially part of the World of Hyatt program…so don’t jump the gun!

Bottom Line

I can’t say that I’d heard of any of these properties before Hyatt brought them to my attention but, based on what I’ve seen online, they look like they’re going to be nice additions to the portfolio – now we just have to cross our fingers that Hyatt is generous when it decides what categories each property will fit into – I wouldn’t mind a cheap points stay in Scottsdale this winter 🙂
