Delta has confirmed that as of today, 20 September 2022, customers flying in its Premium Economy cabins (Delta Premium Select) can expect to find an improved dining experience onboard and that starting next month, Premium Economy flyers will start to see new handmade amenity kits waiting at their seats.

Enhanced dining in Delta Premium Select

As of today, passengers in the Delta Premium Select cabins can expect to be offered what Delta is calling “an elevated dining experience that offers more options infused with local flavors“.

The new Premium Economy options will include main meals like…

  • Braised beef short rib with fingerling potatoes and dijon green peppercorn jus;
  • Impossible Meatballs with polenta, pomodorini sauce, and broccolini;
  • Honey harissa chicken thighs with jollof rice and stewed greens;

…while for dessert, a mango mousse with mango passion fruit compote will be served.

Customers will be served their main courses on bagasse plates made from sugarcane plant fiber (presumably an environmentally sustainable option), with linen tableware and napkins, silver flatware, and glassware.

In addition, the airline says that Premium Economy customers will “enjoy more dedicated service touchpoints throughout their flight” like a ‘bubbles and bites’ moment with sparkling wine, a “special treat” shortly after takeoff, as well as a premium snack basket.

New Premium Economy amenity kits are on the way

Starting on some unspecified date in October, Delta will begin phase in new handmade amenity kits by Someone Somewhere which will contain Grown Alchemist travel essentials and “other premium essentials that make the journey more enjoyable“.

The new Delta Premium Select amenity kits will come in three new designs that have been created exclusively for Delta and especially for the month of October, select Delta flights departing the U.S. will feature a pink kit to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

As far as the skincare products go, flyers can expect vanilla watermelon lip balm to be included in the kits and the cabin crew will hand out vanilla and orange peel oshibori hand towels, before the first meal.

Other amenities that Premium Economy flyers can continue to expect onbard include a memory-foam pillow, noise-canceling headsets, and “a plush blanket made from recycled materials”.

Bottom line

Starting today, anyone flying in Delta’s ‘Premium Select’ cabin can expect to see what Delta is choosing to call an “enhanced dining service” and starting in October, Premium Economy flyers can expect to find new amenity kits onboard too.
