Over the weekend, Delta Air Lines updated its schedules for summer 2025 to include five new routes to four different countries and the resumption of two European routes that the airline hasn’t operates since 2016 and 2020 respectively. This is what all of those routes look like (including the newly published schedules).

Delta adds five new European routes for summer 2025

Atlanta – Naples

Naples, The city that gave us the Neapolitan Pizza and Neapolitan ice cream will be a destination that Delta will serve from Atlanta in summer 2025. The airline already offers flights to Naples out of New York (JFK), but this will be a new destination for flyers departing Atlanta.

The 4x/week route will launch on 23 May 2025, and this what the schedule currently looks like:

DL278 ATL 15:50 – 07:30+1 day NAP (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sat)
DL279 NAP 09:30 – 15:00 ATL (Tue, Thu, Sat & Sun)

The route is set to be operated by one of Delta’s A330-200 aircraft featuring 34 Delta One Business Class seats (Zodiac Cirrus seats), 21 Premium Economy seats, 24 Delta Comfort+ seats, and 144 regular Economy Class seats.

Boston – Barcelona

Barcelona, the capital of Spain’s Catalonia region and home to one of the world’s stranger cathedrals will get new flights from the US when Delta launches its Boston – Barcelona route on 22 May 2025.

The route will complement Delta’s existing routes to Barcelona from Atlanta and New York (JFK), it will operate 3x/week, and as things stand, this is what the planned schedule looks like:

DL250 BOS 17:50 – 07:15+1 day BCN (Tue, Thu & Sat)
DL251 BCN 09:30 – 11:55 BOS (Wed, Fri & Sun)

The route is currently set to be operated by a Delta 767-300ER offering 26 Business Class seats (the Thompson Vantage seats), 18 Premium Economy seats, 21 Comfort+ seats, and 151 regular Economy Class seats.

Boston – Milan (MXP)

Boston will get a second new route from Delta in summer 2025 when the Boston – Milan Malpensa route starts up from 23 May 2025. This route will operate alongside Delta’s other routes to Milan from New York (JFK) and Atlanta and, surprisingly, will offer the only non-stop service between Boston and Milan in summer 2025.

This is what the schedule currently looks like with Delta planning to operate it 4x/week:

DL186 BOS 17:20 – 07:05+1 day MXP (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun)
DL187 MXP 09:20 – 11:55 BOS (Mon, Tue, Thu & Sat)

This route will be operated by a 767-300ER with the same cabin layout as the aircraft operating between Boston and Barcelona meaning that it will feature 26 Business Class seats (the Thompson Vantage seats), 18 Premium Economy seats, 21 Comfort+ seats, and 151 regular Economy Class seats.

Detroit – Dublin

Dublin, a city of literature, fun, fantastic people, and incessant rain, will get Delta’s first new route of this set of schedule changes when flights between Detroit and Dublin launch on 7 May 2025.

The 4x/week route will be the fourth route that Delta operates to Dublin (the others coming from Atlanta, New York (JFK), and Minneapolis St. Paul) and assuming nothing changes between now and next may, this is what the schedule should look like:

DL292 DTW 21:15 – 09:30+1 day DUB (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun)
DL293 DUB 11:30 – 14:30 DTW (Mon, Tue, Thu & Sat)

The schedules currently show this route being operated by an A330-200 featuring 34 Delta One Business Class seats (Zodiac Cirrus seats), 21 Premium Economy seats, 24 Delta Comfort+ seats, and 144 regular Economy Class seats.

New York (JFK) – Catania

The fifth and final new European route that Delta added to its schedules over the weekend sees New York connected to Catania on Sicily’s eastern coast.

This will be the first time a US airline has offered non-stop flights between North American and Catania, so given the lack of competition on this route, it may be wise for flyers to compare the cost of this new route to the cost of an itinerary that offers a brief layover in Rome or Milan just to make sure that a little bit of inconvenience can’t save a lot of money.

Currently, this route is scheduled to operate daily from 22 May 2025 on the following schedule:

DL244 JFK 17:25 – 08:35+1 day CTA (Daily)
DL245 CTA 10:35 – 14:45 JFK (Daily)

This will be the third of the five new summer season routes to be operated by a Delta 767-300ER offering 26 Business Class seats (the Thompson Vantage seats), 18 Premium Economy seats, 21 Comfort+ seats, and 151 regular Economy Class seats.

Delta’s returning routes

As well as adding five new seasonal routes to Europe, Delta is also bringing back two routes that haven’t appeared in its schedules for some time. One was a victim of the pandemic, while the other was cut for, presumably, financial reason some years earlier.

Atlanta – Naples

The last time Delta operated flights between Atlanta and Brussels was March 2020, but the airline now seems happy to take it off the ‘suspended indefinitely’ list and bring it back for summer 2025 alongside its JFK – Brussels route.

With a start date of 10 June 2025, this will be the last of the seven routes discussed in this article to launch and will miss at least two months of the summer flying season. Nevertheless, it is expected to operate 3x/week on the following schedule:

DL140 ATL 17:55 – 08:40+1 day BRU (Tue, Thu & Sat)
DL141 BRU 10:45 – 14:50 ATL (Wed, Fri, & Sun)

This will be yet another European route that Delta operates using a 767-300ER offering 26 Business Class seats (the Thompson Vantage seats), 18 Premium Economy seats, 21 Comfort+ seats, and 151 regular Economy Class seats.

Minneapolis/St. Paul – Rome

With Rome being as popular a destination as it is, it’s always a little surprising to discover that a route to the Eternal City doesn’t live up to expectations, but that’s what apparently happened with this route eight years when, in September 2016, Delta pulled the plug.

The route has been dormant since then, but will finally return on 23 May 2025 when it is expected to operate 4x/week on the following schedule:

DL298 MSP 19:25 – 12:00+1 day FCO (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun)
DL299 FCO 12:30 – 16:15 MSP (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun)

Of all the routes discussed in this article, this is the only one that will be operated by an A330-300 which will offer 34 Delta One Business Class seats (Zodiac Cirrus seats), 21 Premium Economy seats, 24 Delta Comfort+ seats, and 203 regular Economy Class seats.

Bottom line

Delta is boosting its European route schedule for summer 2025 by introducing 5 new routes and resurrecting two old ones that haven’t operations for a number of years. Barcelona, Catania, Dublin, Milan, and Naples will all get new flights from Delta while Brussels will get back its route from Atlanta and Rome will get back its route from Minneapolis.

With the full summer season schedule not yet viewable, we can’t see how close to the end of the summer season all of these routes will run, but given how hot parts of Europe can get in July and August, it would be nice to see some of these services being offered into October 2025.
