In recent times, Qantas is probably the best known airline to publish flights on which all seats can only be purchased using miles or points (rather than cash), but in April this year, British Airways joined in the fun when it announced ‘Avios only’ flights to/from Sharm El Sheikh and Geneva.
Now, a little over a month since the first Avios only flights were unveiled, British Airways is back with another announcement to let flyers know that Avios only flights five more destinations are now offering Avios only flights between November 2023 and April 2024.

London Gatwick to Las Palmas:
- Outbound: 15 November 2023
- Inbound: 22 November 2023
London Gatwick to Lanzarote:
- Outbound: 4 December 2023
- Inbound: 11 December 2023
London Heathrow to Barcelona:
- Outbound: 29 March 2024
- Inbound: 7 April 2024
London Heathrow to Nice:
- Outbound: 29 March 2024
- Inbound: 7 April 2024
London Gatwick to Tenerife:
- Outbound: 29 March 2024
- Inbound: 7 April 2024
As British Airways notes in its press release, the chosen dates mean that three of the five routes will be offering Avios only flights during the UK’s 2024 Easter vacations.
Executive Club Members booking an Avios only flight can do so in any cabin as they normally would through ba.com.
The costs
As with all British Airways award bookings, flyers are given a range of options to choose from when it comes to paying. If you’re Avios rich you can save on the taxes/fees element of the fare by choosing to use more Avios, and if you’re short of Avios you can make up for it by using more cash.

British Airways has today announced that it is now offering Avios only flights on five more routes but on very limited dates. Avios only flights are now available to/from Lanzarotte, Nice, Barcelona, Tenerife, and Las Palmas with round-trip fares starting at £1 + 19,500 Avios.
