Yesterday, United Airlines used its various social media accounts to tease its audiences about three new routes that the airline is launching in 2023 and in the past 40 minutes, we’ve finally had confirmation of what those new routes will be.

Starting later this year, United Airlines will offer services to Marrakesh, Medellin, and Cebu.

United’s new route to Morocco

From 24 October 2024, United will offer a 3x/weekly service between Newark and Marrakesh using a Boeing 767-300ER aircraft featuring the following cabin layout:

  • 46 Polaris Business Class seats.
  • 22 Premium Economy seats.
  • 43 Economy Plus seats.
  • 56 regular Economy Class seats.

The fact that United will be using a 767-300 on this route is a little surprising as the teaser shown on social media suggested that the new transatlantic route that was going to be revealed would be operated by a Dreamliner.

Currently, this route hasn’t been opened up to bookings (United says that tickets will go on sale ‘later this year’) so as things stand, we don’t have the schedule for this route nor do we know if this will be a seasonal offering or a year-round service.

United will fly to Medellin in 2024

From 27 October 2024, United will offer a daily service between Houston and Medellin using a Boeing 737 aircraft. Unfortunately, that’s pretty much all the information that United has released so far, so not only do we not yet know what the route schedule will look like (tickets are expected to go on sale ‘later this year’), but we also don’t know which of the airline’s 737 variants will operate the route, so we can’t say what the cabin layout will look like.

United’s new route between Tokyo and the Philippines

From 31 July 2024, United Airlines will offer a year-round daily 5th freedom service between Tokyo Narita and Cebu on the following schedule:

UA32 NRT 17:25 – 21:35 CEB (Daily)
UA33 CEB 09:15 – 15:20 NRT (Daily)

This service will be operated by a United Airlines 737-800 aircraft which will feature the following seating options:

  • 16 Business Class seats (2-2 domestic style seating).
  • 42 or 48 Economy Plus seats*
  • 102 or 108 regular Economy Class seats*

*Depends on which of the two 737-800 cabin layouts United chooses to use.

United’s press release says that bookings for this route are already open, but at the time of writing, United.com is not returning any results for this route so we may have to wait a little longer for the airline’s systems to update.

Bottom line

From the end of July, United Airlines will operate a new non-stop year-round service between Tokyo and Cebu, and at the end of October, the airline will be launching a new route between Newark and Marrakesh as well as a new route between Houston and Medellin.

Ticket sales for the routes that will launch in the winter season will n go on sale later in the year while bookings for the new Cebu flights should be open in the next few hours.
