United Airlines has just opened its latest “United Club” at Ft. Lauderdale Hollywood International airport and the airline has used the opening to confirm that a further 3 new domestic clubs will open around the country in 2019.
I’ve deliberately used the word ‘confirm’ and not ‘announce’ in the headline and opening paragraph as, even though United is calling this an “announcement”, not all of this is news.
The new United Club in Ft Lauderdale is approximately 5,000 square feet in area and is located near Gate C1 in Terminal 1….
…and the new facility (which has taken over from the temporary facility in the same area) is open from 05:00 to 20:00 daily.
Other United Clubs Coming This Year
New York LaGuardia will be getting a United Club in the new eastern concourse of Terminal B (where gates started opening back in December last year) directly across from the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge (which is already open).
When fully open LaGuardia’s eastern concourse will be home to multiple airline lounges and numerous retailers and restaurants including the likes of Shake Shack, FAO Schwarz and McNally Jackson.
The summer of 2019 will see United open a Club in the new terminal at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport which has already been delayed a few times (latest estimates expect the terminal to open in May).
The new terminal is expected to feature a lot of windows (always good) and a host of the usual food outlets that airports usually offer (Auntie Anne’s, Panda Express, PJ’s etc..) as well as a few eateries with a more local vibe.
The last of the three new United Clubs we’ve been told to expect in 2019 will open at Raleigh-Durham International Airport and will be the airport’s first ever United Club.
I can’t seem to find any details of the Club that’s coming to Raleigh-Durham but it’s definitely about time!
American and Delta both have lounges at RDU (both are across from Gate C3 in Terminal 2) so United is the only legacy airline to currently not offer a lounge for its flyers.
Bottom Line
We have three new United Clubs to look forward to in 2019 and one new one which has just opened…..let’s hope construction at LaGuardia and New Orleans doesn’t over run again or it will be 2020 before the clubs in those locations finally open!
