I may not be the world’s biggest TUMI fan but I still consider it to be a worldwide premium luggage brand and that’s why I was surprised to find Delta offering TUMI amenity kits when I flew Delta Business Class a couple of years ago – I don’t really associate truly premium brands with our domestic airlines.

Delta One TUMI Amenity Kit from 2017

Delta’s TUMI amenity kits have traditionally been pretty good (I still have a couple stashed away somewhere) so regular Delta flyers will be pleased to hear that the airline is refreshing its amenity kit offering across all cabins (yes, even Economy Class is getting a little bit of love) and the new kits should start to appear onboard later this month.

Delta’s new/refreshed TUMI amenity kits will now include products by Le Labo (an ‘artisanal fragrance brand’) and, as part of the airline’s sustainability drive, will no longer come wrapped in a plastic bag.

The contents of the new amenity kit will include the following:

  • Malin+Goetz lip balm
  • A cleansing towelette
  • A sleep mask
  • Toothbrush & toothpaste
  • Socks

The only TUMI branded item here is the amenity kit bag itself.

New Delta Comfort+ & Main Cabin Amenities

It’s unusual to see an airline providing anything more than a pair of unusable headphones, a paper-thin blanket and a pillow with all density of a noble gas in Economy Class…but Delta appears to be making an effort.

Passengers in Comfort+ and regular Main Cabin seats will all be provided with a set of amenities that, for the class of service, look pretty good.

The amenities are packaged in foil bags which feature genuine passenger photos (taken from #SkyMilesLife) decorating the outside:

On the inside the bags offer the following:

  • A sleep mask
  • Ear plugs
  • Toothbrush & toothpaste (Comfort+ only)

Bottom Line

I’ve been a fan of Delta’s TUMI amenity kits for a few years and the latest versions look pretty good.

I don’t know enough about the world of cosmetics to pass comment on the quality of the new Le Labo products but, even if I did, I’m not sure they would be what impressed me most here.

What I most like about this latest news out of Delta is that Economy/Comfort+ passengers haven’t been forgotten. These are the flyers who have the least comfortable flights and who have seen their cabins change for the worse year after year so it’s about time there was a bit of love for the people in the less instagramable seats.
