Deal: Chase is offering a 20% bonus for transfers to Aeroplan (30% for co-branded card holders)

Chase has launched a new bonus on transfers/conversions to Aeroplan with most people being offered a 20% uplift on the usual transfer rate and with co-branded Aeroplan card holders being given a 30% uplift.

Headline Info

• Get 20% bonus Aeroplan points when you transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points between 12:00 AM ET on 12 August and 11:59 PM ET on 30 September 2026.
• Chase Aeroplan Cardmembers can get up to 30% bonus Aeroplan points (20% from the limited time offer and an extra 10% for being a Cardmember). To get the additional 10% bonus, Chase Aeroplan Cardmembers need to transfer a minimum of 50,000 points or more from Chase Ultimate Rewards to Aeroplan, up to a maximum of 25,000 bonus Aeroplan points per calendar year.

Transfers between Chase and Aeroplan are usually instantaneous but Chase covers itself by saying “Most point transfers process by the next business day, but may take up to 7 business days”.

How & when is this a good deal?

Let’s get a key point out of the way first: No one should be creating airline miles/points without having a good idea how they plan to use them in the short-term (our golden rule applies). To do so would open you up to sudden award devaluations and points that were valuable one day can quickly be worth a lot less the next.

Ok, now that’s out of the way, here are some examples of Business Class awards you can book with Aeroplan points that, to us, represent good value (based on the award charts published here):

• East Coast to Western Europe (<4,000 miles) – 60,000 Aeroplan points
• Seattle/Vancouver to Tokyo – 55,000 Aeroplan points
• USA to South America – 40,000 to 60,000 Aeroplan points
• Europe to Africa or Middle East – 40,000 Aeroplan points
• Intra-Europe (<1,000 miles) – 12,500 Aeroplan points

Note: These awards are not available on United Airlines, Emirates, Etihad Airways or flydubai as Aeroplan uses dynamic pricing for these partners)

Using the current transfer bonuses, this is what those points requirements look like in terms of Ultimate Rewards (UR) points (30%/20%):

• East Coast to Western Europe (<4,000 miles) – 47,000/50,000 UR points
• Seattle/Vancouver to Tokyo – 43,000/46,000 UR points
• USA to South America – 31,000/34,000 to 47,000/50,000 UR points
• Europe to Africa or Middle East – 31,000/34,000 UR points
• Intra-Europe (<1,000 miles) – 10,000/11,000 UR points

To us, who value Ultimate Rewards points at 1.5 cents each, this would be the effective cost of booking these flights:

• East Coast to Western Europe (<4,000 miles) – $705/$750
• Seattle/Vancouver to Tokyo – $645/$690
• USA to South America – $465/$510 to $705/$750
• Europe to Africa or Middle East – $465/$510
• Intra-Europe (<1,000 miles) – $150/$165

On their own, those look like great value bookings, but when you add to that the fact that Aeroplan allows flyers to add in a stopover for just 5,000 more points (not within North America or on a one-way booking), you can start to see what great value you can extract from Aeroplan points.

Having said all of that, allow me to reiterate that you shouldn’t be trying to make the most of this deal unless you can see that the awards you want to book are actually available. Not theoretically, but physically available to be booked.

That’s the only way to minimize your chances of something going wrong.

Bottom line

A bonus of 20% or even 30% may not sound particularly impressive, but when it comes to Chase to Aeroplan transfers/conversions, these bonuses can make a difference and can lead to some great award possibilities.
