The offer covers payments made through 30 September 2026 and because the spending needed to trigger the rebate doesn’t have to be made in a single transaction, this rebate may be easier to earn than first looks suggest.

- If you meet the offer requirements, the statement credit(s) will typically post to your account within 30 days after you make a qualifying purchase, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase. In some circumstances, it may take up to 90 days after the offer end date for statement credit(s) to post.

Quick thoughts
A key bit of good news here is that the headline details of the offer specifically state that the spending required to trigger the rebate doesn’t have to be done in a single transaction. This means that a couple of cheap (short) stays will trigger the credit in the same way that a single stay of $1,000 or more will trigger it.
The less good news is that not all Homes & Villas properties are covered by this offer as Amex is limiting it to bookings in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean.
That’s not as limiting as a lot of Amex offers that we see, but if you were hoping to use this to save on a European break (for example), you’re out of luck.
As far as I can tell (based on the cards that I hold), this offer appears to be quite widely targeted to Amex’s membership rewards cards but isn’t being targeted to Amex’s Bonvoy co-branded cards or some business cards.
