Yesterday, we wrote about a targeted offer that hasn’t been particularly well publicised in which Chase is offering 10,000 or 20,000 bonus points on select bookings made through Chase Travel℠. Well, it looks like select Chase cards are also being targeted for a deal offering $100 off select Chase Travel℠ bookings, and these two offers should stack.

The cash back offer

Earn $100 cash back on your Chase Travel purchase when you spend $500 or more, including taxes and after any discounts.

Key terms:

  • $500 minimum spend.
  • Offer expires 10/31/2024.
  • Offer valid one time only.
  • Offer only valid on purchases made directly at chasetravel.com.
  • Offer valid online only.
  • Offer not valid on purchases made using third-party services or a third-party payment account (e.g., buy now pay later).
  • Complete payment for your Chase Travel purchase must be made by 10/31/2024.

Full terms and conditions can be found on the offer page (assuming that you’ve been targeted).

Quick thoughts

As we mentioned yesterday, it can be very nice to get a Chase Travel℠ offer, but before you book you should make sure that you compare the cost of your purchase through Chase and the cost of booking directly with the travel provider (hotel, airline, rental car agency, etc…) as bookings through Case can cost more (occasionally, they can cost less too).

We can see this offer targeted to the Ink Business Preferred® credit card and the Chase Sapphire Preferred® credit card, and both are great cards with which to trigger this offer.

The Ink Business Preferred® credit card earns 3 points/dollar on most travel spending (including spending made with Chase Travel℠), and the Sapphire Preferred Card will earn 5 points/dollar on all spending with Chase Travel℠ unless it’s a booking that triggers the $50 annual hotel benefit that this card offers.

Importantly, this is an offer that should stack with the 10,000/20,000 bonus points targeted offer that we wrote about yesterday (here) meaning that your net spend (after rebate) will only have to be $400 to earn those bonus points.

In addition, if you use the Chase Sapphire Preferred® card to trigger this offer and you haven’t yet used your annual $50 Chase Travel℠ hotel credit, that net spend requirement will drop to $350.

If you have used that credit already, the fact that the Sapphire Card will earn you 5 points/dollar that you spend with Chase Travel℠ should soften the blow a little.

Finally, if you’ve been targeted for this offer and plan on triggering it with a hotel booking, keep in mind that hotel bookings made through Chase Travel℠ will be viewed as 3rd party bookings by the hotel (and any loyalty program to which its attached), so these bookings will not be eligible for elite benefits, nor will they earn the guest any credits with the hotel’s loyalty program.

Make sure you factor that in to your thinking when deciding if this offer will work well for you or not.

Bottom line

Following on from the targeted bonus points offer for spending made with Chase Travel℠, Chase has now released a second targeted offer in which cardholders are being given the chance to earn a $100 statement credit on $500 of spending made through Chase Travel℠ by 31 October 2024 and as both of these offers should stack, this could be a good time to consider if its worth booking any of your upcoming flights, hotels, or rental cars through Chase rather than directly with the service provider.
