Qatar Airways has announced that it has introduced its first range of “gourmet” and “fully vegan” dishes to is Business Class à la carte menus. The new dishes are being offered across all Qatar Airways flights out of Doha and on select flights arriving into Doha.
According to Qatar Airways, the new vegan dishes use “only the freshest locally and internationally sourced ingredients” and are designed with “sustainability and taste at [their] heart“. At the time of writing, these are the dished being offered:
- Smoked moutabel (a spicy eggplant dip)
- Spiral courgettes and arrabbiata sauce
- Tofu and spinach tortellini
- Asian barbecue tofu, noodles, scallions, and shiitake
- Fried tofu with vegetable tajine
- Cauliflower couscous and kalamata bruschetta
- Chickpea flour omelette.
Qatar Airways hasn’t said which of the routes into Doha will offer the vegan menu so it will be a bit of a lottery for any vegan Business Class passengers flying into Qatar. On the way out, however, all flights are now offering the dishes, so vegans can rest easy ahead of their outbound journey.
It should be noted that Qatar Airways already offers a range of special meals available to all passengers regardless of cabin (more details here) so vegan passengers have always been catered to on the airline. This, however, is the first time that Qatar Airways has come up with a set of vegan options especially for Business Class class passengers, and they’re options that appear to be considerably more appetizing than the options on the special meals menus.
If you’re following a vegan diet and you’re traveling in Business Class with Qatar Airways you now have a dedicated set of gourmet food options available to you on all flights out of Doha (and on some flights arriving into Doha). From my personal experiences, I can say that the regular dishes served in the Qatar Airways Business Class cabins are usually very good so I’d expect these vegan options to be pretty good too.
If anyone gets to try out these new dishes, please report back here in the comments and let us know just how good (or bad) the new options are.
