Link to the 2020 Priority Pass Black Friday Sale

It’s probably not an exaggeration to suggest that the number of people buying Priority Pass memberships has plummeted in recent months while a lot of people remain grounded and unable to travel. That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to see Priority Pass offering some interesting deals which, on a price per month basis, are better than any other Priority Pass deal I’ve seen in the past few years…and that includes last year’s Black Friday sale.

Note: This deal is offered on Priority Pass’ US website but it doesn’t look as if it’s restricted to US residents – as far as I can tell it’s open to everyone.

The Latest Priority Pass Offers

The headline discounts on the latest offers may not look particularly amazing (10% – 25%) but if you look closely you’ll see that this is pricing for 15 months and not the standard 12 months.

On a per month basis, this is what these membership costs look like (approximately):

The best-priced offers in last year’s Priority Pass Black Friday sale looked like this:

  • Standard Membership – $4.92/month
  • Standard Plus Membership – $18.67/month
  • Prestige Membership – $28.58/month

Based on this, you may as well wait to see what Black Friday 2020 offers up if you’re only considering Standard membership, but the Standard Plus and the Prestige Memberships may be worth a closer look as it’s unlikely (but not impossible) that these will get cheaper any time soon.

The Math

If you work out the math, you’ll find that the current Standard Plus membership deal remains cheaper than the comparable great deal last November even if you assume that you’ll only get 13 months to use it rather than the 15 that’s being offered – if you only get 13 months use out of this membership you’ll effectively be paying $17.92/month.

The Prestige deal isn’t quite so generous as it only remains cheaper than the Black Friday deal if you get at least 14 months of use out of it – at 13 months it works out to be around $1.10/month more expensive than the Black Friday deal.

Quick Thoughts

If you’re flying right now or planning to fly in the near future and you need lounge access there are two key things you need to do before you begin to consider this deal:

  1. Consider if you will be flying through airports that offer Priority Pass lounges? (check which airports have PP lounges here)
  2. Check to see if the Priority Pass lounges that you’d like to visit have reopened? (Don’t forget that membership also gives you access to the Restaurants in the Priority Pass program)

If the results of the above are positive (and you don’t already have Priority Pass membership via a premium credit card) then this current deal is definitely worth exploring.

Bottom Line

With airlines planning to offer significantly more flights from next month and some parts of the world already opening up to welcome visitors, it looks like we’re starting to see the travel industry taking its first tentative steps towards normality. Normality may still be a good distance away but now may be the time to start picking up any unusually good travel offers if you think you’re going to be able to make the most of them, and this Priority Pass offer is definitely unusually good.
