Hyatt has published a new promotion for the end of summer/beginning of fall in which it’s offering members of its World of Hyatt program triple base points for eligible stays made at properties in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The promotion
- Register (here) by 14 October 2025
- Stay at a participating property in Latin America or the Caribbean between 1 August and 31 October 2025.
- Earn triple base points on all eligible stays.
What you’ll earn
In the World of Hyatt program, members can earn 5 World of Hyatt Base Points per eligible dollar spent, as well as standard elite tier bonuses when they stay at a qualifying property.
Unlike IHG One Rewards and Marriott Bonvoy, the World of Hyatt doesn’t have different earning levels based on the type of property at which you’re staying.
Based on that, this is what members and those with elite status can expect to earn at World of Hyatt properties outside of any promotions:
- Member – 5.0 points/dollar
- Discoverist – 5.5 points/dollar (includes 10% status bonus)
- Explorist – 6.0 points/dollar (includes 20% status bonus)
- Globalist – 6.5 points/dollar (includes 30% status bonus)
Generally speaking, points are only earned on room rates and whatever is charged to the room.
With 3x earnings on offer, all World of Hyatt members will earn at least 15 points per eligible dollar spent in this promotion, and this is what that looks like for members and elite status holders.
- Member – 15.0 points/dollar
- Discoverist – 15.5 points/dollar (includes 10% status bonus)
- Explorist – 16.0 points/dollar (includes 20% status bonus)
- Globalist – 16.5 points/dollar (includes 30% status bonus)
Given that we value World of Hyatt points at 1.4 cents each (based on the value we know we can get out of them with relative ease), you could say that this promotion is boosting the effective rebates on offer to between 21% and 23.1%.
Quick thoughts
It’s a shame that the promotion is limited to Latin America and the Caribbean, but that aside, this isn’t bad and there’s actually quite a bit to like here:
- The potential effective rebates look very good (who doesn’t like to get at least 21% back in terms of points value?)
- Hyatt hasn’t excluded first stays during the promotion period (that would have been very annoying)
- There’s no minimum stay requirement.
- All properties that are part of the World of Hyatt and which are located in Latin America or the Caribbean appear to be participating (and this appears to include Mr & Mrs Smith properties).
- Award bookings are not excluded so anyone using points to book their stay will still earn 3x base points on most room charges.
Personally, I’m not going to be able to make the most of this deal as I have no plans to visit Latin America or the Caribbean between 1 August and 31 October, but I can still appreciate that this looks like a good, solid promotion (even if it’s geographically limited).
Now I just have to hope that Hyatt comes up with another promotion that actually covers a region that I’ll be visiting!
Using the right credit card for bookings
The two obvious cards to use when booking a Hyatt stay are the World of Hyatt Credit Card and the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card. Both of these cards are issued by Chase and both earn card holders 4 World of Hyatt points per dollar spent with Hyatt.
Those, however, aren’t the only card that could be useful, so if you don’t have a Hyatt co-branded card, consider these (terms apply):
- Chase Sapphire Reserve® – 4 points/dollar on spending made directly with hotels and airlines.
- Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card – 3 points/dollar on most business travel spending
- American Express® Green Card – 3 points/dollar on most travel spending
- Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card – 3 points/dollar on most travel spending
Given that the points earned by the Chase Sapphire Reserve® card, the Ink Business Preferred® credit card and the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card can be converted to World of Hyatt points in a 1:1 ratio, those cards would work well for anyone looking to maximize their Hyatt earnings and who don’t have a Hyatt co-branded credit card.
Note: All information about the American Express® Green Card has been collected independently by Traveling For Miles. The American Express® Green Card is not currently available through Traveling For Miles.

Bottom line
Hyatt has launched a limited time promotion for properties in Latin America and the Caribbean in which it’s offering guests triple base points on select bookings. Given our valuation of Hyatt’s points at 1.4 cents each, this promotion could be said to be offering effective rebates of at least 21%, and for anyone looking to visit the Caribbean or Latin America in the three month promotion window, that could be a tempting proposition.
What do you think of this promotion? Good? Bad? Something else?
