It has been a while since we heard Marriott talk about its plans for its all-inclusive collection, but the silence has now been broken with news that we can expect Marriott to open three new high-end all-inclusive properties in Mexico in the next three years.

A new Luxury Collection, a new JW and a new W are on the way

Marriott has confirmed that it has entered into an agreement with AB Living Group to open three new all-inclusive properties in Mexico between 2024 and 2026. These properties are:

  • Almare, a Luxury Collection All-Inclusive Resort, Isla Mujeres (opening in 2024)
  • JW Marriott All-Inclusive Costa Mujeres (opening in 2026)
  • W All-Inclusive Costa Mujeres (opening in 2026)

All three properties will be a short distance away from Cancun.

Marriott hasn’t exactly flooded us with information about these new properties (in fact, it has told us next to nothing) but there are one or two things that have been confirmed.

Almare, a Luxury Collection All-inclusive Resort Isla Mujeres

Almare, a Luxury Collection All-Inclusive Resort, will be an adults-only all-inclusive resort on Isla Mujeres (a short ferry ride from Costa Mujeres).

With just 105 rooms, this will be the smallest (by far) of three new all-inclusive properties and promises to offer “a modern and sophisticated take on vernacular architecture*, layered with locally inspired interior design”.

It will be home to four dining locations, two swimming pools and a beach club.

*I had to look this up! Apparently, this is architecture concerned with domestic and functional design rather than public or monumental buildings.

JW Marriott All-Inclusive Costa Mujeres

The JW Marriott All-Inclusive Costa Mujeres will have 283-rooms and 53 residential units, it will look to surround visitors with tropical landscapes, it will offer six dining locations, and will be home to multiple swimming pools.

W All-Inclusive Costa Mujeres

The W All-Inclusive Costa Mujeres will offer 300 rooms and 9 residences and will be an adults-only resort.

Its plans currently include “stunning indoor and outdoor gathering spaces”, five globally inspired restaurants, bars, and lounges, and “expansive swimming pools”.

The JW and the W will be next to each other and linked

Marriott has also said that the JW Marriott resort and the W resort will be linked by a 70,000-square-foot central entertainment venue called “The Village” which will add to the amenities of both resorts by providing multiple food and beverage offerings, more event space, and an area populated with retail shops (this article’s featured image shows how close the JW and W will be).

Bottom line

While resort opening times can vary significantly from their original plans, we are currently being told to expect Marriott to open a new Luxury Collection all-inclusive resort on Isla Mujeres in 2024 and to expect the hotelier to open two further all-inclusive properties on the Costa Mujeres in 2026. Two of the properties will be open to adults only and Bonvoy members can expect to be able to earn and burn points and to enjoy elite benefits at all three properties… although who knows how many points a “free night” will cost by the time the last of the three properties opens in 2026?!
