After saying that the last promotion that was run would be the last big promotion of the year, Marriott Homes & Villas launched a new promotion over the weekend in which its offering Bonvoy members double elite night credits on select stays made by the end of the year.
The promotion
For select bookings of 2 nights or more made by 20 September 2024 for stays completed by 31 December 2024, select Marriott Bonvoy members can now earn double elite night credits.
Make sure you read the key terms closely as there are some important caveats.
Key terms
- A eligible stay is defined as two or more consecutive nights spent at the same property, regardless of check-in and check-out activity.
- Registration of Marriott Bonvoy Member’s Marriott Bonvoy account is required for this promotion (here).
- Registered Marriott Bonvoy Members earn double Elite Night Credits for each eligible paid night during their stay at a participating home rental booked between September 1, 2024 (12:01 AM EST) – September 20, 2024 (11:59 PM EST) through the Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy website.
- Payment for the stay must be made in cash or credit card.
- Stays of two (2) or more consecutive nights must be completed during the promotion earning period, beginning September 1, 2024, up to and including nights stayed on or before December 31, 2024.
- Members will earn one bonus Elite Night Credit per eligible paid night during the stay. Bonus Elite Night Credits will be awarded to the Member’s account within three (3) to six (6) weeks (21 – 42 days) business days after checkout.
- Bonus Elite Night Credits will count only toward the status year in which the Elite Night Credits are posted.
- A minimum spend for the stay is $1,000 USD (or foreign currency equivalent)
- Home rentals booked through third-party online retailers are ineligible to earn for this promotion.
- Marriott Participating Brand Residences may be featured on the HVMB Platform: however, they do not participate in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program and do not participate in this promotion.
- Marriott branded hotels, branded residences, and Marriott Executive Apartments are not included/eligible for this promotion.
- Award redemption stays where Points are redeemed for a portion of, or the entire stay are not eligible for the promotion.
- Members electing to earn miles are not eligible for this promotion.

Quick thoughts
At the time of writing, the terms and conditions state that Members must register by July 26, 2024, but this seems to be an error as (a) the promotion was only published over the weekend and (b) I registered this morning without issue.
Also, keep in mind a few key aspects of this promotion when planning any stays:
- You must stay a minimum of 2 nights.
- You must spend a minimum of $1,000 on a stay to make it eligible for this promotion.
- Bookings that include Marriott Bonvoy points are not eligible for this promotion.
Overall, ‘double elite night credits’ may not be a phrase that sounds at tempting as it may have sounded in the past if you hold the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card because that card now gives cardholders Platinum Elite status as one of its standard benefits.
It is, however, worth keeping in mind that regardless of what Bonvoy status you hold courtesy of a credit card, if you want to earn Marriott’s Annual Choice Benefit(s) you still have to credit 50/75 elite nights to your Bonvoy account.
Personally, as I couldn’t care less about Annual Choice Benefits or Bonvoy status (I have lifetime elite status locked in), this promotion does nothing to make me want to run out and book a villa or two for the coming months.
Others, however, may feel differently, so if you’re planning a villa stay and need some Marriott elite nights to earn/retain status or to reach an Annual Choice Benefit target, it may be worth checking the Homes & Villas site to see what’s available at your chosen destinations (make sure you compare prices of the villas across multiple platforms to ensure you don’t overpay).
Earn Bonvoy points as well
On top of the double elite night credits that this promotion is offering, all Homes & Villas bookings will also earn Bonvoy members a standard 5 points/dollar before any elite status bonuses are factored in.
With elite bonuses taken into consideration, Bonvoy member earnings will look like this:
- Member – 5 points/dollar (no additional bonus)
- Silver Elite – 5.5 points/dollar (includes 10% bonus on base earnings)
- Gold Elite – 6.25 points/dollar (includes 25% bonus on base earnings)
- Platinum Elite – 7.5 points/dollar (includes 50% bonus on base earnings)
- Titanium & Ambassador Elite – 8.75 points/dollar (includes 75% bonus on base earnings)
Clearly, Homes & Villas stays will vary widely in cost depending on, among other things, the nature of the home/villa that’s being rented, the location of the rental, and on the number of nights being consumed, so the savings and points on offer will be different for just about everyone.
We value Marriott Bonvoy points at 0.6 cents each (based on the value we know we can get out of them with relative ease), so for us, the points on offer represent effective rebates of between 3% and 5.25%.
Anyone booking their stay with a Marriott Bonvoy co-branded credit card can boost their earnings further, so with some cards offering up to 6 points/dollar spent with Marriott (terms apply), the total effective rebate on offer for select cardholders could be said to rise to between 6.6% and 8.85%.
Bottom line
Marriott Homes & Villas has launched a new promotion (we seem to see one appear every month) and this time around, Marriott Bonvoy members are being tempted into making bookings with the promise of double elite night credits.
