IHG announced the launch of the ‘upscale’ voco brand back in 2018 and we’re told that to date, the brand has expanded at a faster pace than any other brand in the IHG stable. In 2023, that expansion is set to continue with the opening of the voco Paris Porte de Clichy.
The voco Paris Porte de Clichy
The voco Paris Porte de Clichy will be the second voco hotel to open in Paris (the voco Paris Montparnasse opened in 2020) and will be located in the city’s 17th arrondissement (district) “moments away from the new Tribunal de Paris” and four stops on the Paris Metro from the Musée Du Louvre.
With 264 rooms, the voco Paris Porte de Clichy will be over twice the size of the voco Paris Montparnasse and, arguably, better located than its sister property for anyone who wants to see the key ‘must-see’ sights of Paris.
The property is slated to open in “summer 2023” (just like all hotel opening dates, this is almost certainly going to be fluid) and that, unfortunately, is just about all the useful information that IHG has been prepared to share with us so far.
We have also been told that it will be designed by Oscar Lucien Ono, that it will be one of voco hotel’s flagship properties, and that its construction will pay particular attention to the use of sustainable materials, but there’s a good chance that none of that will interest anyone reading this article.
What we really want to know is what amenities the property will have, how big the rooms will be (city-center rooms in Europe are often notoriously small), and what the property will be charging (in Euros and points) but it looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer before any of that reaches the public domain.
Bottom line
A new IHG property – the voco Paris Porte de Clichy – is scheduled to open in the 17th district of the French capital in summer 2023. Other than the fact that the property will have 264 rooms and that it will be a short walk or metro ride away from a lot of what Paris has to offer, we don’t know very much about the new property, but what we do know is that IHG One Rewards members will soon have another European property at which to stay and use their points…and that’s good news.
Luckily close to a metro station as the location isn’t too great for a leisure traveler. Not terrible but not great.
