Earlier today, Emirates unveiled the new Premium Economy cabin that has been installed on its newest Airbus A380, but that wasn’t the end of the news the airline had to share. The latest Emirates A380 to be delivered also comes with First, Business, and Economy Class cabins that have been retouched and refreshed.

There’s nothing groundbreaking in the changes that Emirates has made to its existing A380 cabins but it’s still worth noting what the airline has done.

Emirates A380 First Class Refresh

The newest Emirates A380 keeps its original complement of 14 First Class suites but if you’re hoping that the airline has introduced the same stunning suites as are found on a limited number of Emirates 777s, you’ll be disappointed.

Emirates hasn’t provided any images of the refreshed A380 First Class suites but we’re told that the suites on the airline’s newest A380 are “slightly wider with taller doors for even more privacy and comfort”.

Details in the First Class cabin have also been refreshed with new “motifs and colours” making an appearance throughout…including in the A380’s shower suite.

Emirates A380 Business Class Refresh

If you’re going to book Emirates Business Class then make sure you book the A380 because while the A380’s cabin is very good, the cabins on the airline’s 777 are surprisingly disappointing.

The A380’s refreshed Business Class cabin retains the same all-aisle-access seating that it has had for years, but the seats have been refreshed to feature champagne-colored leather covers and wood finishing that the airline says has been “inspired by executive jets” and which is similar to Business Class on Emirates’ newer Boeing 777 aircraft.

The same color scheme has also been applied to the A380’s onboard lounge which can be found at the back of the upper deck and which can be used by both Business Class and First Class passengers.

Emirates A380 Economy Class Refresh

All 338 Economy Class seats in the latest Emirates A380 have been replaced with “ergonomically designed seats that come with full leather headrests and flexible side panels which can be adjusted vertically for optimum support”.

Emirates says that its latest Economy Class seat is a step up from the seat currently installed on Emirates’ Boeing 777 aircraft in that it’s lighter (more efficient) but doesn’t compromise on comfort or function. Each seat now features a wood grain finish on tray tables, as well as a 13.3” personal screen.

Elsewhere throughout the refreshed A380 aircraft, Emirates says that customers will see new finishes and design touches featuring the Ghaf tree motif (the Ghaf is considered the national tree of the United Arab Emirates) as well as the “clean and airy” champagne color scheme with wood paneling and bronze accents that are also found on the airline’s newer Boeing 777 aircraft.

All cabins throughout the refreshed A380 are equipped with the latest generation of Emirates’ ice inflight entertainment system and each in-seat screen is said to offer ultra-wide viewing angles, a capacitive touch screen, LED backlight and full HD display.

Bottom Line

As well as debuting its Premium Economy Cabin on its latest Airbus A380 Emirates has also introduced light refreshes to all three of the aircraft’s existing cabins. Overall, the refreshed cabins look nice and it’s great to see Emirates finally moving away from the appallingly gauche and chintzy gold and shiny wood decor that has blighted its premium cabins for years.

What do you think of the look of refreshed Emirates A380 cabins?
