The World of Hyatt is currently sending out emails to targeted members with an offer of three AAdvantage Miles per dollar on all Hyatt stays through the end of the year. Considering this offer will stack (very nicely) with the upcoming promotion in which WoH members can earn up to four times the usual number of base points, this is an incredibly generous offer to receive.

Bonus AAdvantage miles with Hyatt

Hyatt launched a partnership with American Airlines in early 2019 and since then, World of Hyatt members who link their Hyatt and AAdvantage accounts have been able to earn AAdvantage Miles on Hyatt stays and Hyatt points when they book American Airlines fares. This promotion would appear to be an extension of this partnership.

Thoughts

Wow (that’s an exclamation I seem to be using a lot right now every time Hyatt announces another promotion). This is starting to seem a little too good to be true.

First Hyatt extends its excellent promotion in which it’s offering up to 25% off award bookings, then it announces a Q4 promotion in which WoH members will earn 3x or 4x points on all stays (as well as bonus elite nights), and now this.

A look a the value on offer shows just how lucrative this promotion, combined with Hyatt’s Q4 promotion, can be:

World of Hyatt members earn a standard 5 base points/dollar on all Hyatt stays so the 4Q triple points promotion will see members earning 15 points/dollar while the quadruple points promotion will see Hyatt co-branded cardholders earning 20 points/dollar. Based on my valuation of World of Hyatt points (1.4 cents each) this represents an effective rebate of 21 cents or 28 cents per dollar.

The new AAdvantage Miles promotion offers all targeted WoH members 3 miles/dollar on all qualifying spend so, as I value AAdvantage Miles at 1.25 cents each, this represents an effective rebate of 3.75 cents per dollar.

Put simply, a WoH member targeted for the American Airlines promotion will, a the very least, earn an effective rebate of 24.75 cents per dollar (24.75%). World of Hyatt elites and holders of card_name will do considerably better.

Rather than rehashing all the math that I’ve already shown in an earlier post (see here), allow me to sum up the value on offer like this:

  • In the 4Q promotion, a top-tier Hyatt World of Hyatt Globalist member using card_name is guaranteed to earn at least 20.5 points/dollar (it can go up to 25.5 points per dollar) as well as a further 3 AAdvantage Miles /dollar courtesy of this latest promotion. By my valuations, that’s a guaranteed effective rebate of 32.45 cents/dollar or 32.45%.
  • In the 4Q promotion, holders of Discoverist status (a status besowed upon all holders of card_name), paying for their stay with card_name, are guaranteed to earn at least 19.5 points/dollar as well as a further 3 AAdvantage Miles /dollar courtesy of this latest promotion. By my valuations, that’s a guaranteed effective rebate of 31.05 cents/dollar or 31.05%.

That’s a staggeringly good return for a hotel loyalty promotion to offer.

Bottom line

Hyatt is really on a roll right now and it’s getting harder and harder for miles and points junkies to justify booking stays with any other hotel group. The 4Q promotions from IHG and Hilton aren’t anywhere near as generous as all the promotions Hyatt is running right now and based on the promotion it’s running through October, whatever Marriott comes up with won’t be much to get excited about either.

Is anyone making bookings with a hotel chain that isn’t Hyatt? If you are, what’s your reasoning?
