Capital One has already committed to opening airport lounges at Dallas Fort Worth and at Washington’s Dulles International Airport, now it has confirmed that it will be opening a new lounge at Denver International Airport too.
Here are the details of the new lounge that Capital One has shared with TFM:
The new Capital One Denver lounge will open in 2022 (no specific date or month has been given), will be operated in partnership with Plaza Premium, and will feature “unique, premium amenities that provide visitors with a best-in-class travel experience from the moment they step through the door”. It will be approximately 11,200 square feet in size and will be located on the mezzanine level of Concourse A.
The lounge will offer:
- Relaxation rooms with eye covers, blankets and other luxury amenities
- Shower suites with complimentary towels and hotel-inspired custom toiletries
- Quiet working spaces, including private meeting rooms, with individual power outlets at every seat
- Complimentary high-speed WiFi
- Kid-sized tables and chairs for families
- A private nursing room for parents with babies
- Secure lockers for carry-on luggage and personal items
As well as all the above, the lounge will also offer a variety of food and drinks options for guests. In Capital One’s own words, this is what we can expect:
“The contemporary, light, and airy layouts deliver a premium in-lounge food and beverage experience, including delicious, health-conscious eating options that are served plated as small bites, a handcrafted beverage menu and an industry-leading, dedicated grab & go section.”
“The food & beverage program focuses on locally sourced ingredients, uniquely and sustainably packaged premium grab-and-go selections, and vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The menu will be developed in partnership with local favorites including Denver-area cocktail bars, breweries and coffee roasters, to showcase the many culinary offerings of this region.”
“A ready-to-eat food station will feature freshly curated grab & go snacks including artisanal nut mixes, fresh fruits, juice shots and rotating warm selections like breakfast sandwiches in the mornings or fresh-from-the-oven cookies in the afternoons.”
“Unique beverage options include a fully stocked bar with craft cocktails on tap, local beers and regional wines, a full-service coffee and espresso bar featuring La Colombe cold brew on tap at select locations, and a custom six-tap system featuring artisanal sodas and flavored waters.”
At this point, I suspect that a lot of people will be wondering who will be allowed to access this lounge and at what cost, but all that Capital One has said so far is that “credit cardholders will be eligible for special entry rates depending on their card” and that doesn’t really give much away (I’ll post an update if I find out more).
What I’ll be very interested to see is if holders of select American Express Cards will be able to access the lounge free of charge.
Most (possibly all) standalone Plaza Premium Lounges are part of Amex’s Global Lounge Collection and that means that holders of cards like card_name (review) and card_name (review) can access these lounges (with at least 1 guest) without having to pay a fee. The fact that the new Denver lounge isn’t solely a Plaza Premium lounge may mean that this won’t apply in this case, but that won’t stop me from keeping my fingers crossed.
Bottom line
Capital One has announced that it will open a new lounge at Denver International Airport in 2022. The lounge will be operated in conjunction with Plaza Premium and with a footprint of approximately 11,200 square feet should offer a very nice space in which guests can relax before a flight.
[…] Premium seems to be on a little bit of a roll. Recently, Capital One announced that its new lounge in Denver will be operated in partnership with Plaza Premi…, and now we’re hearing that Plaza Premium has just taken over the running of all Virgin Atlantic […]
