We may still be two months away from the end of the 2025 Summer season, but British Airways is already moving things around in its Summer 2026 schedules, and a few of the changes pushed through in the past few days affect the airlines routes to and from the United States.

Two seasonal routes canceled

Currently, British Airways operates a 3x weekly (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays) Summer season service between London Gatwick and Las Vegas and this route was originally scheduled to end on 25 October 2025 and to return on 31 March 2026.

Not anymore. This route has now been removed from the schedules and shows no sign of reappearing for the 2026 Summer season.

Another  Summer season service that British Airways operates across the Atlantic is the London Gatwick – New York JFK service which operates once per day.

This route was originally scheduled to end on 25 October 2025 and to return on 1 May 2026, but like the Gatwick – Vegas route, this one has now been pulled and is not expected to return in 2026.

The good news (as you’ll see in the next section) is that British Airways isn’t actually reducing service to either Las Vegas or New York. It’s just changing the London airport from where these cities get their flights.

Five US routes will get a little more service

From 29 March 2026, five of BA’s US routes will get a little more service than was originally planned.

Heathrow – Austin

Originally, Austin was set to receive 13 weekly flights from London Heathrow, but this has now been increased to 14 weekly flights as the route goes “double daily”.

This is what the April schedule currently looks like*:

BA191 LHR 11:20 – 15:50 AUS (Daily)
BA187 LHR 16:05 – 20:20 AUS (Daily)

BA190 AUS 17:45 – 09:15+1 day LHR (Daily)
BA186 AUS 22:15 – 13:35+1 day LHR (Daily)

Based on what I can see in the schedules right now BA190/191 will be operated by a Boeing 777 while BA186/187 will be operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.

Heathrow – Las Vegas

Originally, Austin was set to receive 10 weekly flights from London Heathrow, but this has now been increased to 13 weekly flights as British Airways moves the three flights originally offered out of Gatwick across to Heathrow.

This is what the April schedule currently looks like*:

BA271 LHR 12:15 – 15:15 LAS (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri, Sat, & Sun)
BA275 LHR 17:15 – 19:55 LAS (Daily)

BA270 LAS 17:10 – 11:15+1 day LHR (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri, Sat, & Sun)
BA274 LAS 22:00 – 16:00+1 day LHR (Daily)

Based on what I can see in the schedules right now BA270/271 will be operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner while BA274/275 will be operated by an Airbus A350-1000.

Heathrow – Miami

Originally, the Heathrow – Miami route was set to operate 7x/week, but the route will now be going “double daily” for next summer.

This is what the April schedule currently looks like*:

BA207 LHR 09:55 – 14:30 MIA (Daily)
BA209 LHR 15:00 – 19:35 MIA (Daily)

BA206 MIA 17:00 – 06:55+1 day LHR (Daily)
BA208 MIA 22:00 – 12:00+1 day LHR (Daily)

Based on what I can see in the schedules right now BA206/207 will be operated by an Airbus A380 while BA208/209 will be operated by a Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner.

Heathrow – New York (JFK)

New York already gets a seemingly endless stream of daily British Airways flights out of Heathrow, but apparently 8 daily flights isn’t going to be enough. This route will now be operated 9x/day.

This is what the April schedule currently looks like*:

BA117 LHR 08:20 – 11:05 JFK (Daily)
BA175 LHR 10:00 – 12:45 JFK (Daily)
BA173 LHR 11:35 – 14:25 JFK (Daily)
BA181 LHR 12:30 – 15:30 JFK (Daily)
BA177 LHR 13:20 – 16:10 JFK (Daily)
BA115 LHR 14:40 – 17:35 JFK (Daily)
BA113 LHR 16:20 – 19:25 JFK (Daily)
BA179 LHR 18:05 – 21:00 JFK (Daily)
BA183 LHR 19:40 – 22:30 JFK (Daily)

BA178 JFK 07:50 – 19:45 LHR (Daily)
BA112 JFK 18:30 – 06:30+1 day LHR (Daily)
BA174 JFK 18:45 – 06:50+1 day LHR (Daily)
BA180 JFK 19:20 – 07:25+1 day LHR (Daily)
BA176 JFK 19:30 – 07:45+1 day LHR (Daily)
BA116 JFK 20:05 – 08:15+1 day LHR (Daily)
BA172 JFK 20:55 – 21:10+1 day LHR (Daily)
BA114 JFK 21:30 – 09:40+1 day LHR (Daily)
BA182 JFK 23:10 – 11:15+1 day LHR (Daily)

These flights will be operated by a mix of Boeing 777-200, 777-300ER and 787-10 aircraft all of which offer a First Class cabin and all of which (should) offer the BA Club Suite in the Business Class cabin.

Heathrow – San Diego

Originally, San Diego was set to receive 13 weekly flights from London Heathrow, but this has now been increased to 14 weekly flights as the route becomes the third (in this list) to go “double daily”.

This is what the April schedule currently looks like*:

BA265 LHR 11:30 – 14:50 SAN (Daily)
BA273 LHR 14:55 – 18:00 SAN (Daily)

BA264 SAN 16:40 – 11:25+1 day LHR (Daily)
BA272 SAN 19:50 – 14:20+1 day LHR (Daily)

Based on what the schedules are showing right now, BA264/265 will be operated by a Boeing 777 while BA272/273 will be operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.

*Be aware that these timings and frequencies may change between now and next Summer.

Bottom line

British Airways has started making changes to its Summer 2026 schedule and we can now see that the airline plans to cancel its seasonal routes from Gatwick to Las Vegas and New York JFK and to move those flights across to Heathrow.

In addition, the airline will also be adding more flights to Austin, Miami, and San Diego as it continues to focus heavily on its transatlantic routes (seemingly at the expense of route expansion elsewhere).
