Apparently, Amex wasn’t satisfied with publishing just four rental car offers because after putting out deals for Hertz, Alamo, Avis and Budget, it has now launched a new targeted offer for spending on a Sixt+ subscription.

What is a Sixt+ subscription
I had never heard of a Sixt+ subscription before I saw this offer, so I had to look it up (here).
Essentially, this appears to be a way of leasing a car short-term:
“Say goodbye to the hassles and expense of buying or leasing a car with a flexible SIXT+ car subscription.
Choose a vehicle that works for you from our premium fleet featuring the latest models of practical compact cars up to roomy, luxurious SUVs. Then customize your subscription with coverage options and a mileage package.
Do your vehicle needs change from month to month? With SIXT+ you can swap out your car or cancel your subscription during each 30-day cycle. The best part is that everything but fuel costs is included in one monthly price.”
You could also look upon this as another way to book a long-term rental and based on what the Sixt+ site is showing me right now, this Amex offer would cover the Sixt+ enrollment fee as long as the first payment you make is at least $1,000.
Quick thoughts
I have no idea how good or bad a Sixt+ subscription is so I don’t plan to comment on that, but what I will comment on are the cards that I have this offer targeted to.
This offer seem to be widely targeted as I’m seeing it on the following cards:
- card_name
- card_name
- card_name
- Amex EveryDay® Credit Card
- Marriott Bonvoy® American Express® Card (not open to new applicants)
As usual, only bookings within the US will trigger the rebate but as Sixt+ only appears to be available in the US, this shouldn’t be an issue or something that causes confusion.
Make sure that you keep in mind the fact that you’ll have to spend a minimum of $1,000 on your first transaction with Sixt+ to trigger the rebate as the terms clearly state that “a single purchase of $1,000 or more” is required.
Also, the terms state that the transaction must be made online, so if your local Sixt office offers Sixt+ membership, don’t make the mistake of paying for your subscription there – it probably won’t trigger the rebate.
Bottom Line
Holders of targeted Amex cards who are interested in a long-term car rental or a lease, should should check to see if they’ve been targeted to save on a Sixt+ subscription. The targeted offer would save a cardholder $199 on spending of $1,000 or more, but keep in mind that the spending target would need to be made in a single transaction.
