Recently, a reader recently sent us a link to a Hyatt promotion that we weren’t aware was available, so as we know of someone who hasn’t been told they had been targeted but was able to register, I thought we’d mention it in case anyone reading this is in the same position (i.e. eligible but blissfully unaware).
The promotion
Ok, let’s get one this straight before we go any further. There’s a very good reason we’ve called this a ‘road warrior’ promotion in the headline. This isn’t a promotion that’s going to appeal to the casual guest and only people with gruelling travel schedules will have any chance of getting anywhere near to maxing this promotion out.
Here’s what the promotion looks like:
And here are the key terms:
- You must be a World of Hyatt member, have received this offer from Hyatt, and register to participate.
- Only Eligible Nights on stays completed 90 days after registration (“Promotion Period”) will count towards this promotion.
- You will receive 5,000 Bonus Points after completing five (5) Eligible Nights, 10,000 Bonus Points after completing 15 Eligible Nights, 15,000 Bonus Points after completing 25 Eligible Nights, 25,000 Bonus Points after completing 35 Eligible Nights, and 35,000 Bonus Points after completing 45 Eligible Nights at Hyatt hotels and resorts worldwide.
- A maximum of 90,000 Bonus Points may be earned under this promotion.
- All points awarded under this promotion are Bonus Points. For the purpose of this promotion, an “Eligible Night” is defined as any night where a member is paying an Eligible Rate or redeems a free night award.
- Only the room occupied by the member will count toward this promotion.
- Please allow two to three weeks after checkout for Bonus Points to be posted to your World of Hyatt account.
Full terms and conditions (which you should read carefully) can be found on the registration page.
Quick thoughts
I wasn’t targeted for this, so I don’t know what the email from Hyatt offering this promotion looks like (check your junk folders), and this is all I got when I tried to register:
To be honest, that’s not a big loss as I don’t have a significant number of nights booked at Hyatt properties between now and the end of the year, so even if I had been targeted, I doubt that I would have earned more than 5,000 bonus points.
In fact, I pity anyone who gets anywhere close to maxing out this deal as that’s a lot of nights on the road, and that can be tough.
It’s interesting that the terms and conditions don’t appear to give a deadline for registration (we’re just told that it’s available for a ‘limited time only’), but as there are only 112 days left in the year and as this promotion is only valid for 90 days from registration, I wouldn’t wait to try to register if you’re interested in seeing how many bonus points you can rake in.
I suspect that whatever expiration date is built into this promotion is not very far away.
Bottom line
Hyatt is targeting select World of Hyatt members for a promotion offering up to 90,000 bonus points on stays consumed within 90 days from registration. On the face of things, that sounds amazing, but when you take a look at the number of nights needed to earn even 15,000 bonus points, you’ll see that this is probably a promotion for road warriors and not for mere mortals like us 🙂
