As most people reading this will probably know, the World of Hyatt introduced peak and off-peak pricing yesterday, 26 October, and while the new pricing system doesn’t affect stays made before the end of February 2022, all of Hyatt’s properties are now displaying their respective award calendars for all bookable dates from 1 March 2022 onwards.
Finding the World of Hyatt Award Calendars
Finding the new World of Hyatt award calendars is relatively straightforward.
First, head to the Hyatt homepage and enter your search parameters as you normally would (I happen to have chosen to search for award availability in this image but you don’t have to).
After you click on “find hotels”, your search results will appear.
From the list of hotels on the left of the screen select your chosen property and click.
The property’s rates for your chosen dates will now appear and under the property details at the top of the page you will find a link to the hotel’s points calendar.
Clicking on the link will open up the calendar in the month relating to the dates you used in your search with your dates highlighted.
You can now use the arrows to the left and right of the month to see the cost of an award night or the cost of an upgrade on every night that has been loaded into Hyatt’s reservation systems.
You’ll find that off-peak pricing is highlighted in green but you’ll have to spot the peak pricing yourself because it’s not highlighted at all.
Finally, this wouldn’t be a full award calendar if it didn’t show the cost for all room types and upgrades and this tool allows you to do just that from the drop-down menu just above the calendar.
You can now view the cost of a Standard Room, a Regency/Grand Club Room, a Standard Suite, and a Premium Suite for any bookable date of the year, as well as the cost of a Suite Upgrade and a Premium Suite Upgrade.
This doesn’t show award availability
The new World of Hyatt award calendars do not show award availability.
This may be counter-intuitive to those of us used to seeing award calendars from the likes of Hilton and Marriott, but all the World of Hyatt award calendars currently show are the cost of a room or an upgrade (in points) for any given night regardless of whether an award booking or upgrade is actually available.
To actually see if awards or upgrades are bookable for a specific date (or range of dates), you have to select your preferred dates and then use the “check availability” button at the bottom right of the calendar.
While this will be a little annoying for anyone searching for availability, it does at least give us a way to see exactly how many peak, standard, and off-peak nights various properties are now offering under the new system.
This is something I’ll be going into in more detail (probably in a post that will appear tomorrow) after I’ve had a chance to do a few dummy searches and had a chance to see if there’s still good value to be had out of the World of Hyatt.
Bottom Line
If you want to know on what dates your preferred World of Hyatt properties will be offering off-peak pricing and what dates to avoid because pricing has jumped to peak rates, the award calendars that all Hyatt properties have are the place to look and all now appear to be live.
Finding the award calendar is easy, but the big questions now are is how easy will it be to find off-peak rates at the properties we all love and just how hard will it be to avoid peak season pricing?
[…] date, Hyatt stays from March 2022 onwards can now cost up to 25% more than they currently do. With Hyatt’s seasonal calendars now live, I’ve taken a look at a few regular Hyatt properties and a few well-known and higher-end […]
