Amex has launched a new targeted offer for select cardholders in which it’s offering a $100 rebate (up to two times) on spending made with Delta Air Lines by the middle of October. Given the terms and conditions and given the length of time we’re being given to trigger the rebate, this should be a relatively simple rebate to earn if you’re a Delta flyer.

Quick thoughts

This is a slightly worse version of an offer that we’ve seen in the past (spend $400 and get $100 back), but it could still be an easy path to a nice saving if you have any upcoming bookings that you need to make with Delta.

I can see this offer targeted to the Platinum Card® from American Express and that’s good news because if that’s a card you hold (and you have been targeted), it’s a card that will earn you 5 valuable points per dollar that you spend with Delta (it offers 5 points/dollar on up to $500,000 of spending made directly with airlines or flights booked through Amex Travel and 1 point/dollar thereafter – terms apply).

If you don’t hold the Platinum Card, the American Express® Green Card is probably your next best option (that card will earn you 3 points/dollar on most travel spending – terms apply) and, failing that, the Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card and the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card (or their business versions) could be seen as reasonable options given that they earn 3 SkyMiles per dollar spent directly with Delta (terms apply).

It’s also worth noting that the wording of the offer makes it clear that multiple transaction adding up to $500 or more will trigger the statement credit and that as well as airfare purchases, upgrades, seat selection fees, baggage fees, standby fees, and even Delta Sky Club memberships will all count as qualifying purchases.

If you’re a Delta flyer, all of those options should make it relatively easy to trigger this offer, and it should make the offer attractive to those making several cheap bookings as well as those making a single significant booking.

Bottom line

Amex is currently targeting select cardholders for a good (but not excellent) offer on spending made with Delta by the middle of October 2025. Cardholders can earn $100 back (up to two times) when they spend $500 or more and, importantly, all that spending does not need to be made in a single transaction.
