Amex is now targeting select card holders for a deal which may not look particularly interesting (because a lot of readers will probably have never heard of the hotel group in question), but which can be very useful if you’re planning a trip to Europe and, to a lesser extent, useful if you’re planning a trip to South America.

Quick thoughts

Minor Hotels Group is, primarily, made up of properties from the NH Hotels brands (NH Hotels, NH Collection Hotels, and NH Now Hotels) and while there is just one NH property in the whole of the United States, there are dozens of NH hotels scattered around Europe and quite a few in Mexico and South America.

Generally speaking, NH Hotels sit in the mid-tier of European Hotels (a lot are probably at the lower end of the mid-tier) so they’re not likely to be ridiculously priced and you’ll find them across a range of areas within cities (everything from central locations to airport locations).

Make sure you do your research before you book as the quality of NH hotels can vary wildly (e.g. the NH Nacional Madrid is very good while the NH Sienna definitely isn’t), but there will be good options to uncover within the long list of hotels participating in this deal and with a $100 saving being offered on just $300 of spending, this should be an easy offer to trigger.

Targeted cards

We can see this offer targeted to every American Express Membership Rewards card we hold (including business cards) so the targeting appears to be broad (most US readers should see it on one or more cards), but given that all but one of the properties participating in this offer are outside of the US, you should make sure you save the offer to a card that doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees.

Ideally, you will be able to save it to the American Express® Green Card which offers 3 points/dollar on most travel purchases (terms apply),

Note: All information about the American Express® Green Card has been collected independently by Traveling For Miles. The American Express® Green Card is not currently available through Traveling For Miles.

Bottom line

If you’re planning to visit Europe, Mexico or South America before the end of November, take a look at your list of Amex offers to see if you’ve been targeted for the Minor Hotels Group offer.

It’s not going to help you save on a luxury resort stay or on stay at a palatial property in the heart of Paris, but it may help you save some cash on a solid city center hotel that doesn’t cost the earth or on an airport hotel stay during a layover.
