When it comes to hotel partners, American Express usually favors Marriott, Hilton, and occasionally IHG, but we’ve also been seeing more Hyatt offers appearing in 2024 and a new Hyatt offer is now available in targeted member accounts.

Quick thoughts
There are four key things to note here:
- Based on the wording in the terms and conditions, it looks like the $300 spending target does not need to be met in one transaction. Multiple transactions that add up to $300 or more will end up triggering the statement credit.
- The Destination by Hyatt collection doesn’t contain a significant number of properties right now so there are just 19 participating properties in this offer.
- The offer is valid at properties around the world and not just the Americas (as is usually the case with so many Amex offers).
- Make sure you book directly through the Destination Hotels website* as although bookings through Hyatt.com should track ok, the terms specifically mention this site and you don’t want to give Amex a reason to decline the statement credit. or an individual property – bookings through 3rd party channels will not count.
*You should still receive Hyatt elite credits and elite benefits and you should still earn World of Hyatt points as this looks to be a Hyatt booking channel.
Overall, the best Amex card to use with this offer will probably be the American Express® Green Card which returns 3 points/dollar on travel spending (terms apply), but as that’s a card that I do not (yet) hold, I’m going to have to make do with adding it to the Platinum Card® from American Express which will earn me just 1 point/dollar (terms apply).
Ordinarily and in the absence a card that will earn me a category spending bonus, I would use the the Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express for an offer such as this one (it earns me 2 points/dollar on the first $50,000 of spending every year and 1 point/dollar thereafter – terms apply), but as this card charges foreign transaction fees and as I think I’m most likely to use this offer abroad, I’m going to have to settle for using the Platinum Card unless my plans change and I suddenly decide to book a US property.
Note: All information about the American Express® Green Card has been collected independently by Traveling For Miles. The American Express® Green Card is not currently available through Traveling For Miles.
Bottom line
American Express is currently targeting select cardholders for a $75 saving when they spend $300 or more (in one or more transactions) at Destination by Hyatt properties in various locations around the world.
Based on how many of my Amex cards are showing this offer this doesn’t appear to be a narrowly targeted deal, so if you have an upcoming stay at an eligible Destination property (or if you’re planning a stay in a location that has a participating Destination property), make sure you check your Amex offers to see if you could save $75.
