Quick thoughts
The first bit of good news is that multiple purchases totaling at least $1,400 or more will trigger this offer so you don’t have to spend the whole amount in one transaction (although you probably will).
The second bit of good news is that cardholders have until 31 January 2026 to trigger this offer and as that’s only the deadline for booking a qualifying flight, this offer should be valid on bookings for travel into November 2026.
As usual, the one key bit of bad news is that the rebate is only available on trips originating in the United States and fares paid in USD (that rules out any cheap premium cabin fares originating in Europe).
Another thing to keep an eye on is that this need to book through Amex Travel in order to get the discount may be becoming a trend.
This is the second such offer we’ve seen in the past few weeks (the last one was for flights on select Lufthansa Group airlines) and for those of us who prefer booking with an airline directly and who don’t like dealing with intermediaries, this could become an issue.
Targeted cards
We can see this offer targeted to every American Express card we hold (including business cards), so not only is the targeting broad (most US readers should see it on one or more cards), but the Platinum Card® from American Express is also being targeted, so if you hold the Platinum consumer card, you should be able to stack this deal with the 5 points/dollar on up to $500,000 of spending made with Amex Travel (or directly with airlines) that your card offers (you’ll earn 1 point/dollar thereafter – terms apply).
Targeted holders of the Business Platinum® Card from American Express will also be able to earn 5 points/dollar on their Lufthansa Group bookings made through Amex Travel (terms apply).
If you don’t hold a Platinum consumer on business card, you next best option will probably be the American Express® Green Card which offers 3 points/dollar on most travel purchases (terms apply).
Note: All information about the American Express® Green Card has been collected independently by Traveling for Miles. The American Express® Green Card is not currently available through Traveling for Miles.
Bottom line
If you’re considering booking a transatlantic trip in the next couple of months (for travel as far into the future as November 2026), log into your Amex account and check to see if you have been targeted for an offer that would save you $250 on $1,400 (or more) of spending on Air France bookings made through Amex Travel.
