We’ve recently highlighted the latest Europe sale from IHG and the latest Europe, Africa, and Middle East sale from Hyatt so it’s probably only fair that we remind readers that Hilton was the first of the big hotel chains to launch an EMEA sale and that it’s still a sale that you can book.

The sale

  • Stay by 8 April 2024*
  • Everyone can save up to 20% off Hilton’s Best Available Flexible Rate.

Quick thoughts

It’s always nice be offered a discount but there’s actually quite a bit here that I don’t like.

Firstly, the fact that this sale is limited to weekend stays means that it a far weaker sale than the ones from IHG and Hyatt that we have discussed recently.

Secondly, the terms and conditions of this sale are more convoluted and wordier than a lot of other sales that we’ve seen recently and that makes them customer-unfriendly. It’s hard to work out if the terms give Honors members up to 20% or up to 25% off bookings in Europe (I think they do) and that kind of uncertainty is unwelcome.

Thirdly, the discount offered in this sale is based on the best flexible rate that a property is offering and not the cheapest rate on offer, so even though the sale rate isn’t flexible in any way at all, it isn’t actually offering travelers a ‘real’ discount of up to 20% or 25% (admittedly, this is what the Hyatt and IHG sales are doing right now as well).

The truth is that while big fans of Hilton and Hilton Honors may find something of value in this sale, the annoying and restrictive terms and conditions have put me off even looking for any deals, so Hilton won’t be getting any of my business with this sale (that’s no big loss for Hilton) and I’ll probably continue to focus on Hyatt.

Bottom line

Hilton’s winter sale for properties in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East is ongoing and is offering travelers savings of up to 25% on weekend breaks into April 2024. Personally, this isn’t a sale that holds much interest for me, but if you really love Hilton and are looking to book a trip, it may be worth keeping this sale in mind when you search for somewhere to stay.
