Last month, Qatar Airways ran a promotion in which it was offering bonus Avios for transfers from various worldwide partner banks to its Privilege Club loyalty program, and for some, those bonus Avios should now have appeared in their Privilege Club accounts.

Qatar Airways only partners with one major transferable currency program in the US – Citi’s ThankYou program – and the June promotion was offering a bonus of up to 40% for conversions of ThankYou points into Qatar Airways Avios.

Because however, this was a Qatar Airways promotion and not a Citi promotion, the rules stated that while the initial conversion of points to Avios (in a ratio of 1:1) would be instantaneous, the bonus Avios would not post for up to 45 days.

Despite not being a big fan of promotions that don’t give me their promised bonus as soon as I’ve earned it (or within a few days of the qualifying activity), this was too good a deal to pass up and I pulled the trigger on a transfer of 51,000 ThankYou points.

That transfer took place on 19 June and as you should be able to see from the image below, my bonus Avios from this promotion hit my account on 7 July.

That’s a waiting period of just 18 days and that should give anyone else who participated in this promotion an idea of when their bonus Avios should post (or have posted).

If you made an eligible transfer before 19 June and you have yet to see your bonus Avios post, now may be a good time to chase things up with Qatar Airways to see what’s going on as although the rules give the program up to 45 days to post the bonus Avios, everyone that I know who participated in this promotion (by 19 June) now has the promised bonus Avios in their accounts.

Bottom line

The bonus Avios from the June Qatar Airways promotion are now posting to Privilege Club accounts. On average, the bonus Avios seem to be appearing in accounts between 17 and 19 days after an eligible transfer was made.
