We’ve had rumors and leaks for quite a few months now but we now finally have confirmation of what Turkish Airlines’ new long-haul Business Class seat will look like….and it’s what we’ve been expecting for some time.

AUBT has confirmed that Turkish Airlines will be installing Stelia Aerospace’s “Aurora” seat in the Business Class cabins of the 787 Dreamliners and Airbus A350s that it has on order.

Apparently Turkish Airlines will not be retrofitting these new seats to its existing long-haul aircraft (A330, A340 & 777), but those aircraft will be getting some kind of refreshed product in the future … we just don’t know what that will look like or when the retrofits will commence.

Here are the facts we currently have on the new Turkish Airlines Business Class seat:

  • 1-2-1 cabin layout
  • 44″ seat pitch
  • 18″ HD IFE screen

So that’s not a lot of detail….but we can tell quite a bit more from what another airline has announced.

Turkish Airlines’ new 787-9 Dreamliners are already scheduled to operate from August this year so we can see what the cabin layout looks like thank to the seat maps on ExpertFlyer:

As AUBT points out, this seat is based very closely on what we’ve seen Singapore Airlines announce for its regional Business Class cabins….

….and, as with a number of modern Business Class cabins, the window seats will alternate between being quite private and protected from the aisle….

….to being less private and quite exposed to the aisle:

Both seats should be very comfortable but the former will be the better choice for most.

The center seats will be arranged in a very similar way to cabins we’ve already seen already….

… so, as I’ve mentioned in previous reviews, couples will prefer the seats that are closer together (odd-numbered rows on the Turkish Airlines 787-9) while solo travelers (or travelers who don’t like each other!) will prefer the seats that offer more separation if they haven’t been able to reserve one of the window seats.

Bottom Line

This looks like a pretty nice Business Class cabin to spend some time in so, considering that service onboard Turkish Airlines is usually pretty good, the new cabin will be an added incentive to book with the airline.

From the schedules I’ve seen it looks like the new cabins will appear on long-haul routes from August 2019 so it won’t be long before we start getting the first real reviews of the new product – I expect them to be good.

  1. My wife and I will be on a new Dreamliner from IST-DPS around labor day. Can’t wait to try out the new seats.
