Australia doesn’t really offer World of Hyatt fans a lot of options as at the time of writing, there are just nine open Hyatt properties across the whole country, there are no Hyatt’s west of Melbourne, and because Mr & Mrs Smith properties offer minimal benefits to guests with Hyatt status, they’re not much help either.

Next year, however, the Andaz brand will finally make its way over to Australia giving World of Hyatt fans one more property at which to earn and redeem points.

The new property will be located within the Star Gold Coast complex in the Gold Coast region of Queensland, and to give you an idea of where that is, here are a few screenshots from Google Maps.

The Star Gold Coast is an existing mixed-use complex that sits on a piece of land known as Broadbeach Island and is already home to four hotels and residences as well as a casino and multiple dining venues.

The Andaz Gold Coast is expected to open in ‘mid-2025’ and will occupy floors six to twenty one of the 65-story second tower that is being constructed alongside the existing resort buildings.

The new hotel will offer 202 rooms and suites and the on site amenities will include the following:

  • A fitness center
  • Three food and beverage outlets
  • An ‘expansive’ outdoor pool deck on level 6 overlooking Broadbeach.

  • A cocktail bar
  • A beach club with private cabanas and al fresco dining.
  • An Andaz Lounge.

We haven’t been given any more information covering the property, but a bit of basic research tells us that it will be about an hour’s drive from Brisbane international airport and approximately 25 minutes’ drive from the Gold Coast Airport, so it shouldn’t be too hard to get to (public transport option are also available).

It will be interesting to see what room rates look like once the property is fully open as although the Andaz will be set within a high-end complex, it isn’t on the beach (it’s a 15 minute walk to the beach) and there are dozens of other hotels in the area which appear to offer a better location.

In its favor, however, is the fact that it seems to be the only hotel from one of the bigger chains that’s sits near Broadbeach (most of the local Marriott, Hilton and IHG properties seem to center on Surfers Paradise which is ~3 miles north) so anyone specifically wanting to earn or burn points in Broadbeach will probably head to the Andaz.

Bottom line

Hyatt has entered into an agreement to bring the Andaz brand to Australia’s Gold Coast with the new 200+ room property scheduled to open at some point in the middle of next year.

We don’t have a lot of specifics about the property right now, but when more information becomes available and Hyatt releases more renderings, we’ll update this article.
